Ligara

Ligara takes the protective and caring nature of Azulus to almost mythical proportions, it was once thought to be a myth itself. In fact many never even believed it to be connected to Azulus at all. For centuries Ligara was thought to be a legendary Mystimon. The revelation that it Evo's from Azulus came as a shock to many in the world.

According to legend, Ligara's domain was at the top of the Cascade Mountain range's highest peak. Many went there in search of it, and came back with nothing, while others never returned at all, thought lost to the rough conditions of the Cascades. Until a team, led by Doctor Jane Dawn, went up the mountains in search of the beast herself. Trained by the great Doctor Ivan Sanderson himself, it was thought that she might succeed where many failed before her. Succeed she did, and she was able to officially add Ligara to the Mystiary established by Doctor Ivan Sanderson before her, and declared something equally remarkable: that it is the evolution of Azulus, the very creature to whom Ivan owed his life.

Discovery

From the notes of Doctor Jane Dawn.

"I went up those mountains because I felt it was my duty. My mentor owed his life to an Azulus, and afterward he long believed that Ligara was connected in some way to it. But he dared not go after it. For it having saved his life, he felt it was some small pittance or something of the like to leave the creature in peace. However I believe otherwise. I believe the only way it will ever be left alone is if it is documented and then laws put in place to protect it, such the case was with Azulus.

I brought with me a small team, as I did not want to appear threatening to the creature at all. It was my belief that a large part of the reason many in the past had failed was because they went in with large teams of people. And indeed the ones who never returned went in with weapons. Thus why we went unarmed. We did not even have a Mystia Caster apart of our small group of three. You may believe this was folly. But it proved instrumental in our success. These creatures deserve our respect and our reverence. If we approach it with force, it will respond with force.

It took as many days and nights to ascend the mountains, for we had to stop several times to acclimate ourselves to the atmospheric pressure. If we ascended too quickly, we would have died for sure. Anyone who knows mountain climbing knows we speak the truth. And so we had several stops planned along our route.

As we reached the peak, we could barely see three inches afront of us, for there was a white mist blocking our vision. The snow began coming down in droves as well. It was as thought we had walked directly into a blizzard. Then, it was for but a quick moment, but I could have sworn I had seen a pair of glowing blue eyes in the distance. But it was impossible to be sure of what I saw. We pushed on, unsure of whether we would even survive this trip.

Then, the next I knew, I awoke, freezing and disoriented. The skies were clear above me. I looked around. I found myself in the middle of an icy plateau, it appeared to be atop the mountain. The snow crunched beneath my boots. I called out for my party. I got no response. It appeared I was the only one remaining. The only one left alive. But why would I be left alive? That was when I saw it, as it rose above the cliff. It was a long serpentine dragon, bright light blue in colour, with white and pink hair covering portions of its body, and eight wings. Its snout was long and blunted at the nose, with long white strands like a mustache. It stared down at be with bright blue eyes. It then motioned to my pack laying before me, upon which I had affixed a photograph of the late Doctor Ivan Sanderson. It seemed to look at the photo with a sort of recognition, as though it recognized him.

"He was a dear friend of mine, and my mentor," I said. It reacted as though to tell me to continue. "He passed away a year ago. He is with the Gods now."

To this it seemed to respond with sadness, as a tear fell from its eye. I could scarcely believe it. This was the very same creature that had saved his life. I was right. Ligara did Evo from Azulus!

After some time of conversing with the dragon, I bid my farewell and went along my way. But before I could get very far, the same mist from before appeared and within moments, I was back down on the surface. For a moment I freaked out, for just as ascending a mountain too quickly could be hazardous to your health, so too could descending too quickly. But I felt fine. I looked back up at the mountain behind me. Something told me that Ligara had saved my life, just as it saved my mentor's life so many years ago."
