Mori - The Rookery

Behind the grimy district of the Iron Quarter you can find the Rookery, the vast slums of the city of Mori, where the Second-Class citizens and the indentured laborers of the Empire live. By far the largest district with many small delapitated huts, dirty tenements, garbage spilling out on the streets and even some small workshops. Some of the residents have taken it up onto themselves to clean up the environment and have planted some small gardens which serve as a little oasis in the sea of grime and filth.

The district is a grim reminder of the Empire's stark inequalities, where the unwanted, the unemployed, and the unlucky gather in search of shelter and survival. Yet despite its misery, the Rookery pulse with a stubborn resilience and a fierce sense of community. Life endures here in defiance of neglect, corruption, and the ever-present shadow of disease and starvation.

Recently posters promoting the rising labor unions can be seen plastered all over the district.

Important Buildings and Locations

  1. The Gutter Market - a sprawling black market where anything can be bought—for a price. Stolen goods, counterfeit medicines, illegal narcotics, and desperate services are all traded under the watchful eyes of gang enforcers.
  2. The Maze - a labyrinth of claustrophobic alleys and twisted pathways, barely wide enough for two people to walk side-by-side. Many alleys are choked with debris, waste, and precariously stacked shacks that seem ready to collapse at a moment’s notice.
  3. Shanty Town - the town within a city, the residents of Shanty Town take pride in their simple houses made from reclaimed wood, metal and scrap. Simple gardens give it a homely charm and the few workshops bring in a little bit more money the average neighborhoods of the slums. Home to the leader of the most influential labor union and the strongmen of the union patrol the area keeping it safe.
  4. The Broken Tower - an old watchtower long since fallen down when the walls were abbandoned in favor of the rapid growth of the city. Taken over by one of the strongest criminal organisations, they use it as their base of operations.
  5. Grain Market - the southern market built on the edge of the city. Here the traders from the south bring in tons of grain that is sold and stored in the granaries. Large vats of porridge are always cooking here serving a cheap meal for the residents of the Rookery.
