Fahlis

Fahlis is a kingdom in turmoil. They find themselves at war with Rensif. The claim against them is that a radical organization murdered the King of Rensif. They blame Fahlis for this groups actions due to Fahlis inaction. The war has raged for about a decade now, Fahlis has held their ground without Union aid so far. However Rensif grows in strength every day.

Fahlis is not known to be a hospitable environment. Even pre war it was a monster ridden nation. The nation's motto of 'Fear no Fall' is a testament to the people's attitude to anything. Even in the midst of bloody battle, the barbarian infantry stand ready against impossible odds.

Their king is known widely as a menacing entity. Known as the Demon King Desmond. His mere presence inspires the bravest of souls to shiver in fear. He is always accompanied by his faithful Orcanine Companion and The Blade of the Crown. When they choose to walk the streets of the city, a parade does not preceed or follow them... the streets empty. The King will occasionaly go out on a hunt for the massive beasts of Fahlis wilds. Rumors have spread that the beasts themselves turn tail and run from this man as he approaches. His right hand, The Blade of the Crown, is a myth himself. Said to have been the sole survivor of several tragic battles. The tales told of him say, should he lead your unit, you are not guaranteed to survive... but you will be avenged.

The King took power at the young age of 10. His father abandoned the queen upon his birth. When King Desmond turned 10, the queen claimed the Union needed a counselor from Fahlis that could handle the continued Chaos of La'Collet's introduction. Leaving her son in power. Demon King Desmond gained his name early, as advisors who were sent to help with the burden of leadership continued to abdicate their duties. Fahlis fell into Chaos over the next decade, allowing some seedier groups to take root throughout Fahlis.

Though peace has never been achieved since his rule, King Desmond took a more personal role in leadership in his 20's and 30's. Leading monster hunts himself, traveling to the various cities of his kingdom. As well as traveling outside of their borders. His name spread as the Demon King Desmond gained his reputation for instilling lasting dread wherever he tread. If his people did not respect his rule, they feared his wrath.

Geography

Fahlis land is treacherous. The cities are all built with large and thick walls. Farmland can be cultivated close to the Olivaan Union border where the soil is fertile, but the center of the Nation is a breeding ground for monsters. They have access to one of the great freshwater lakes, however it shares a border with Rensif, which has lead to attacks and invasions from the water. Which they are less prepared for than land invasions.

Government

The Demon King Desmond sits on the throne as he has for around 40 years now. He has not lead the nation so much as kept it vaguely in line. His presence does bring an odd sense of hope in the war with Rensif however. When your leader is one of the most feared in Miramai it lends itself a bit as a barrier to the invasion. The cities and towns for the most part govern themsleves. Most are lead by family blood lines that have held positions of power for generations. The King is known for sending ECHO's to leadership of the towns and cities with new national decrees. Usually these are carried out immediately. The Demon King Desmond is known to check in on the cities himself from time to time. No town dare defy his orders if they know he'll be arriving in person.

Society and Culture

Fahlis is a crime ridden nation due to lack of leadership over decades. Criminal organizations and radical groups took root in the Chaos and have not been able to be expunged. While the Demon King Desmond was beginning to make some progress in their removal, the war with Rensif began. The very organizations he was trying to remove became some of the strongest allies in the war.

The people of Fahlis live on the edge of fear at all times. Shop owners pay protection money to criminal groups and monster hunters due to the lack of guards. The military conscripts anyone of age if they aren't affiliated with these questionable organizations. Leading the young to sign on with the groups they so desperately want removed from their cities.

Economy

The poorest of the Olivaan nations, their only real export comes in the form of valuable monster parts from their hunts. As well as military training and exporting monster hunter crews themselves. Even Timoria who has a Monster Hunting guild will occasionally outsource jobs to the more capable Fahlis monster hunters. Kentrid also hires out bands of these hunters to clear out particularly hostile coastal Drake nests.

Fahlis has also taken to comendeering any goods that pass their borders from Timoria and Zelor. Which has rapidly decreased the nation's willingness to trade with Fahlis.

Military

Fahlis maintains a large military. The terrible conditions of the nation lead to capable fighters born from the streets and wilds. Though each individual member of Fahlis military is a threat, they lack proper leadership. Often following orders more out of fear than loyalty. Due to the difficulty in maintaing Order in their ranks. The Demon King Desmond created units known as Knightmares he will deploy to help focus the troops. They exude the fear that the Demon King is known for. A large portion of the military is made of the barbarian tribes that occupy the monster infested wilds. They have been promised Dust Vessels and weaponry in exchange for their service. Now they patrol the borders of Fahlis. Occasionally dipping outside of the borders before being redirected by the Knightmares.

Allies & Enemies

Rensif of course is at war with Fahlis. Timoria and Zelor are not enemies but have begun to pull back and trade with Fahlis due to their actions in comendeering their goods that pass through the borders. Kentrid and Veritan are still Sympathetic to Fahlis situation. Idiir and La'Collet remaining mostly neutral, as Fahlis does not respect Idiir's technology, or La'Collet's practice of diplomacy over force.
