Dust

In this realm of Miramai. Magic comes from the gods themselves. The same event that created the Balance, Shards, and Fragments created Dust in the process. The Dust floats through the world freely, more Dust is created as the gods interact with the world, as Fragments are created and as Trinity’s clash. As Mortals began to realize that Dust could be manipulated, The Balance stepped in to create another set of Shards to help govern over the Dust’s manipulation and control.  The Trinity of Magic.

The first thing introduced by the Trinity of Magic was a means of collecting Dust. Manipulation up to that point was expanding on the effects of the gods themselves. Mountains created by the Shard of Land would have elaborate tunnels built through them by using the residual Dust. Rivers created by Water would have their paths rerouted to suit the Mortals.

This would have been an Era of massive alterations made by Mortals. Light taken and contained for underground cities or Lighthouses to be seen from hundreds of miles. Weapons, Tools, and Trinkets forged from Dust in Cataclysm regions have created some of the most powerful items in the World. The site of a massive tornado created a sword capable of forming similar winds when slashed. A vibrant garden of every flower imaginable formed a shovel capable of causing massive plant growth in the region its plunged

The Trinity of Magic taught mortals how to forge vessels to contain the Dust first. Glass made of sand infused with the Dust from the Towers, combined with Particulum. The glass is formed into gems, and larger vessles. Then Particulum is inlayed with other metals or wood to craft the vessels seal and setting. Vessels for individual use took the shape of wearable jewelry, rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and hair pieces. These items are sold in Magic Shops all over the world, the methods of crafting readily available to most. As long as you have the proper materials. The Vessel naturally gathers Ambient Dust. An individual's personal Vessel is connected with them. The Dust contained within obeys their commands with rarely a hicup. Larger vessels for vendors and longer term storage were created in the shapes of lamps and bottes.  Over the centuries traders and craftsman began to vennture further with their designs and formed large collectors placed on wagons. Traveling merchants would venture through places of great events of the Gods to gather specific Dust and then trade with various magic shops all over the world.

Dust itself acts as a sort of material catalyst for manipulating magic in Miramai. However this doesn’t mean there isn’t strain on the body. Once the Trinity of Magic came about, they placed upon the manipulation of Dust a burden on the body and mind.

Where once Mortals were able to freely manipulate the existing Dust around them to manage miracle level feats. The limitations made it so that only small alterations to the world around them were possible… at least at the start.

As all things, Humanity found ways to expand their abilities through sheer force of will. Much like working the muscles of the body, manipulation of Dust over time could be expanded into more and more powerful manipulations without damaging the body.

This didn’t stop Mortals from manipulating Ambient Dust however, but the danger to one's body was much greater.

Even with the ability to manipulate Ambient Dust, Knowledge of how was vital to get the desired effects.

Controlling Ambient Dust would typically damage and exhaust the user.

In rare cases, where the users of the Ambient Dust used it in accordance with the Dust’s purpose, there have been wielders who have come out MORE powerful instead, drawing some of the Dust into them in the process.

Typically however, the unexpected power causes muscles and joints to ache, the mind throbbing in pain, and the muscles straining in exhaustion. When trying to pull a more powerful manipulation it has on occasion killed the user in their attempt.
