Kentrid

Home to the largest desert on Miramai. Kentrid is the largest producer of Dust Vessels in all of Miramai. The only nation in Miramai that possess a Tower of their own, Kentrid has been a power house of a nation throughout their history. The harsh environment and the magic benefits of the Tower brought any conflict they dealt with to a swift end.

The desert's magic has eradicated entire armies who sought to take Kentrid's Tower from them in the past. Myths of what lies in the sands of Kentrid are varied. The only truth is that venturing in without a guide is certain death.

Due to the dangers of the desert, many cities in Kentrid take advantage of the Nations large coast line. Ships travel up and down the coast between the cities to avoid the sands.

Kentrid's citizens are frequently born with a natural protection from Cold or Heat. Due to the deserts fluctuating temperatures. The time of birth is the link, those with a blue hue to their skin are Nightborn, and those with a red hue are known as Dayborn.

Geography

Harsh desert and treacherous seas. Kentrid's borders forge resilient citizens. The desert that surrounds the Tower is infused with magic. The Dust infused sand is the key to crafting the Dust Vessels neccessary for its manipulation. However creatures of the desert are also modified by the same magic. Beasts that thrive in the sands are just one of the many dangers of Kentrid however. Many have said the desert itself feeds on those foolish enough to wander too deep.

Kentrid has a long coast that suffers from frequently high cliffs. Port cities use elaborate elevator systems in Order to raise and lower ships between the upper and lower docks. The introduction of airships over the last decades has proven useful to Kentrid especially. Though flying over the desert continues to prove trecherous. The coast line's drake population is preffered over the desert's threats.

Government

The Queen of Kentrid has held power for only a few years now. Her parents have stepped aside to allow her to rule while they remain as advisors. She has a large team of advisors, many of whom were requested to join her by the people of Kentrid. Local government have appointed Governors to oversee them. This has caused some issues in the cities of Kentrid. As the Queen in her inexperience replaced every existing Governor with her own friends and acquantences. A few have done quite well, but many have begun overtaxing the people and making rash decisions that have angered their citizens.

Society and Culture

The course desert is a good indication of the welcome outsiders will get in Kentrid. While the wealthy shop owners are often very welcoming to newcomers, the average citizen of Kentrid see them as a nuisance. Most visitors come because of rumors of what can be found in the desert. The desert however will consume anyone who ventures in if you don't know its secrets. For that reason a fairly profitable business has risen in guides of the desert. These guides primarily help lead people to the Oasis City in the center of the desert. Though they can be hired to help avoid some of the dangers of the desert for those seeking ancient ruins, large beasts, and mythical treasures. Though at a much steeper cost due to the lower likelihood of return.

The coastal cities are home to some of the bravest sea and sky fairers. The cliffs once made port cities impossible for Kentrid. Idiir engineers however helped introduce an elevator system they had developed. This gave Kentrid the ability to build docks on the ground and sea level, with powerful elevators that could lift the ships out of the water up to the upper docks. Airships as well have introduced a 3rd tier, sky docks to these port cities. These coastal cities are now able to trade with nations outside of Olivaan more frequently, which has opened them up a bit to outsiders over the land locked cities of Kentrid. While the danger of constant Drake and other coastal beast attacks makes these regions nearly as dangerous as the desert. The constant supply of leather from the wings of the beasts has increased production of airships.

Economy

Dust Vessels and raw Dust infused sand from their desert are the primary exports from Kentrid. They import Particulum from Timoria constantly to forge a wide variety of Dust Vessels that they then ship off all over Miramai.  They have close relationships with Ehrillian traders who help with exporting Dust Vessels to the other continent of Miramai. The collection of the sands is quite trecherous and can only be done by a select group of well trained individuals.

Desert guides also can make a decent living in Kentrid, though the life expectancy is quite low. For this reason, most in the profession are quite young. They either retire early and wealthy or die. The Coastal cities also have many ships available for charter.  The Nightborn and Dayborn citizens of Kentrid make for a great mix of crew. Capable of standing the scorching sun and the freezing nights in shifts on ships.

Military

Kentrid has an established military that go mostly unused. It's been centuries since anyone has attempted a war with Kentrid. Any dispute is quelled before it begins. Without Kentrid's Dust Vessels, any other Nation's power would quickly drop.  Though they are not the only provider, they are by far the best at the trade. The military act as guards for the various cities of Kentrid now. This lends to the course nature of the citizens. Board military guards have lead to a tight grip of law. With some Governors introducing ridiculous laws to fine and imprison people over.

Allies & Enemies

Kentrid rarely fights with any neighbors, they maintain good trade relations with almost every other Nation in Miramai. Veritan provides lumber, Zelor's food, Idiir's technology, Timoria's metals, and La'Collet's textiles. All in exchange for Dust Vessels of every shape and size.

Though Kentrid's coasts and airships have also added Warek and Barra-Mati to their regular trading partners. Gaining some more exotic products in return found only in Kentrid bazaars.
