Tiefa

Tiefa is a region in the equatorial rainforests of western Erask, formerly part of the territory of the Jade Masque. When the Green Dragon chose to disappear, she left the region to the Tiefling Planate Lineage in a living will, 'to alleviate the manifest injustices to which they have been subjected.' Why the Dragon cared about the oppression of the tieflings remains unknown.   Tiefa is an isolated region, protected by the mountains in the east, a hazardous coast to the west, and two great walls of faultless draconic masonry. The northern wall is concealed by the vegetation until it looms suddenly out of the trees to bar all entry. It is watched over by troops from the garrison city of Fort Prudence, and access to Tiefa via the north wall gate is forbidden to all except agents of the state. A sprawling trade settlement stretches out below Fort Prudence, however, in which Tiefan merchants do business with outsiders, trading lumber, spices and medicinal plants. Visitors and newly arrived Tiefling refugees enter at the south wall, through the city of Virtue's Gate. This is as far as most go, and is home to Tiefa's embassies and diplomatic services. The only other route is thorugh the shoals and coastal defences to Port Gentility, the only deepwater harbour amidst the cliffs and maelstroms.   The largest and capital city of Tiefa is Gracevale, in the heart of the rainforest. Surrounded by Primeval Wilderness, the city is home to the throne of Tiefa's ruler and founder, Red Salvation. The nature of the god whose pact with Red Salvation secures both the borders of Tiefa and Salvation's own longevity is a matter of much debate. Foreign powers often speculate it could be a fiend of the Otherfire, while many Tiefan's believe it to be the Jade Masque herself. Gracevale is also home to the Tiefan Mission, whose missionaries spread the invitation to come to Tiefa to tieflings across Galath. Rumours abound that the missionaries have the ability to spirit tieflings away from under the gaze of their oppressors and haters.
