Air Elementals

Air elementals, sometimes called Wind Elementals in different cultures and kingdoms, are living currents of wind. They exist between magical air and living breath, embodying freedom, movement, and unpredictability.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Lesser air elementals often appear as small whirlwinds or spiraling dust devils, with faint faces flickering inside the storm’s eye. As they grow stronger, they expand into towering cyclones or tornadoes. Some assume humanoid forms torsos, arms, faces, and even wings woven entirely from wind, mist, and storm cloud.

Biological Traits

Air Elemental pathfinder stats   Wind elementals are natural fliers, gliding effortlessly through the sky as though it were an extension of their own bodies. On average, they can reach speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour, adjusting direction and turning with ease as they ride and shape the currents.   They can condense and gather the wind around their forms, reshaping their bodies into sharp blades of air or powerful whirlwinds to knock back foes. As well as they are immune to all wind type attacks and it just there's nothing or some of them can even absorb it making them more powerful. Their entire being is attuned to the air, they are the wind, and through it, they can both fight and sora the world around them.   As true living beings of air and wind they have a weakness to earth type magics. When they are hit by earth type spells it disrupts their body weakened and causing more damage than it should.   Pathfinder Rule: Add vulnerability to acid spell and earth type spell

Growth Rate & Stages

On the physical plane, air elementals grow as they consume magical energy. Long exposure to wind leylines can give rise to massive, towering elementals some of the largest ever recorded in the mortal world.   Their growth in the metaphysical and divine realms is far less understood. Despite abundant sustenance, their size and intelligence vary widely. Some scholars argue that divine decree fixes their forms, while others suspect unknown metaphysical laws govern their shape and growth.

Ecology and Habitats

Like all elementals, they exist across three realms:
  • Physical Realm Found near wind ley lines, high mountain peaks, open plains, deserts, and storm-prone skies.
  • Metaphysical Realm Reside primarily in the Realm of Wind, as well as planes touched by weather, storm, or shifting skies.
  • Divine Realm Found within the domain of Kaze God of Air, carrying divine wind and storm-essence.
Though their form remains similar across realms, their aura reflects the qualities of their origin.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Physical Realm They feed on ambient wind mana, energy carried on currents, and leyline points. They can also draw from wind-attuned crystals, which become ordinary leyline crystals once drained.   Metaphysical & Divine Realms Surrounded by limitless currents of their element, they continuously absorb and circulate wind-essence without conscious effort.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Physical Realm Possess animal-like intelligence, acting on instinct to protect their territory. Their temperament varies: some are calm and gentle breezes, others restless and chaotic storms.   Metaphysical & Divine Realms Greater air elementals often display true sentience. Huge or larger ones can communicate, their voices shifting between soft whispers, rushing gusts, and howling gales.     Their personalities tend to polarize either calm, detached, and almost lazy, or curious, playful, and eager to explore new things.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Air elementals possess a unique sensory system. Instead of normal sight or touch, they constantly send out thin, invisible waves of wind, which rebound back to them with information. This allows them to “read” their surroundings much like echolocation, though through the movement of air rather than sound.   Their senses include:   Sound Perceived through air vibrations, granting excellent auditory awareness.   Touch/Shape They cannot perceive texture or color, but they sense density, hardness, heat, and movement through shifts in the air.   Vision Absent in mortal terms; their “sight” is the flow of wind itself.
