Theosis

Beyond Psikinetics and the straightforwardness of mono-hypostatic mortal Souls expressing a single ousia is the power of Theosis.   Theosis is a spiritual ousia distinct from the psikinetic vita field, and its hypostasis (or expression) is only found in beings linked to the Creator of The Cosmos. Historically, this was only the Nadrakians as they were the only life directly brought into existence by the Creator. However other individuals and races were able to acquire Theosis from time to time through various means.   The ousia of Theosis obeys different rules from the ousia of The Vita Field and its psikinetics, and doesn’t operate within the sandbox defined by the laws of physics. It can act beyond those rules, and entirely supersede and overwrite them. It’s therefore understood as being capable of carrying out miracles, known as Charisms.   Beings that express this ousia necessarily also express the vita field ousia too (in the form of intellect and psikinetics) by virtue of being alive and possessing a soul, and are hence profoundly gifted spiritually from this hypostatic union. The difference isn't merely quantitative but also qualitative, and manifests as an insurmountable difference in ability and nature. This is why Nadrakians, Rodinians and similar beings are considered inviolate.   As well as being a source of spiritual power, it’s also viewed as a process by both Rodinians and Nadrakians whereby one can increase the depth of their Theosis through greater adherence to the governing doctrine of the Creator.

Ousia, Hypostasis and Hypostatic Unions

An ousia is a source of spiritual action with a distinct nature of its own that can’t be reformulated as a product or sum of any other source of spiritual action. It’s therefore fundamental. The vita field is considered to be an ousia, and the native source of spiritual power in this universe. It’s often regarded as the source of mortal souls, and the mortal power of psikinetics. The divine ousia is another distinct spiritual source derived from the Creator of the cosmos, and gives rise to the power of Theosis. As it's accepted as being external to our universe, and in some sense even involved in its creation, it's understood as being capable of superseding the laws of physics in our universe. A further ousia also exists, called Iconoclasm, which is discussed in a later article.   Souls can be composed of one or more of these ousia, and an expression or presence of an ousia within a soul is known as a hypostasis.   Most mortals who possess only souls of the vita field ousia are known as monohypostatic souls. Nadrakians and those born of their pairing with a mortal are hetero-ousian, and therefore dihypostatic. They house within them two distinct hypostases operating as one entity/soul, which is a state known as hypostatic union. Souls existing in a state of hypostatic union of two or more ousia are geometrically more powerful spiritually, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Rodinians and Ninth Caste Nadrakians are so far the only known beings to possess trihypostatic souls, giving rise to their great power.   An ousia can have multiple hypostases, and therefore ousia and hypostasis are not synonymous. This is commonly seen in the vita field with the development of compound, collective consciousness from all the life on a planet. Intelligent beings from that planet will possess their own soul, as one hypostasis of the vita field. However, as their soul is embedded within a planetary aura, when that aura finally becomes self-aware (such as in the case of the Earth), their soul will obtain a second hypostasis of the vita field – that which is instilled from the collective consciousness of all life from their home planet.   The Rodinians possess this dual-hypostasis of the vita field, and it's been put forward as one of the reasons why their power fluctuates over time (and is currently lower than when they defeated Archnadrakian Balaine). Balancing the hypostasis of their own ego with that of the Earth’s, whilst also following the Praxis of Theosis, is difficult. If these hypostases are not all satisfied spiritually, then it’s believed they interfere with each other. The notion of Hypostatic Coherence is covered in more detail below.

Origins and Prerequisites of Theosis

When the Creator breathed life into Archnadrakian Balaine, it conferred into Balaine its divine nature, or ousia. This ousia was an entirely distinct source of spiritual action and power from the vita field that mortal souls and their psikinetics come from, and was passed into the Nadrakians that Balaine himself would create from his own flesh, blood and soul.   For almost all of their recorded history, Nadrakians were the only source of this ousia in the universe. From time to time, a Nadrakian would reproduce with a mortal and the result of this pairing would produce a bloodline that could temporarily express this ousia and achieve Theosis to some extent, until it faded through generations of dilution. These progenies would be semi-divine like the Nadrakians, and their souls would possess hypostases of both the vita field and Theosis.   During the Blood Harvest, the Nadrakians gifted many civilisations the divine ousia of Theosis to help them resist the fallen Archnadrakian Balaine and its Ninth Caste. This was the only other way in which Theosis could be obtained. Following the Blood Harvest, the Rodinians were the sole surviving civilisation to have received the divine ousia, which by virtue of all Rodinians possessing it via the soul of the Earth itself being made partially divine, does not dilute over time. This gave rise to the power of Theosis for Rodinians in perpetuity.   There's one other requirement for receiving the gifts and power of Theosis, and that’s the fundamental spiritual power of the soul. The divine ousia requires a soul of considerable power to awaken its hypostasis and retain this awakened state. The Nadrakians only gifted it to certain civilisations possessing sufficiently developed souls capable of using it. The threshold is about half of the spiritual dyne density of the Earth and its creatures’ souls, as they were three million years ago during the The Siege of Rodinia.

The Praxis of Theosis

Praxis, the notion of putting into practice a theory or principle, is central to Theosis. Theosis doesn’t just describe a source of spiritual action or ousia. It’s also a process by which one can increase their understanding of that source, and thereby increase the degree to which it responds to them.   The ousia of Theosis is inextricably tied to the High Commandment of the Creator that dictated the Nadrakian’s actions throughout the cosmos. This commandment is written:  Act to ensure the ever increasing complexity and diversity of life in our cosmos, and the elimination of life's suffering.  The Nadrakians believed close observation and adherence to this principle was central to their power, and the process of Theosis depended upon it. They created a system of benevolence, stewardship, guidance, and compassion for living things, as these were observed to steadily progress them closer along the path towards complete Theosis.   For the Rodinians, they too are bound by this creed as they possess the same ousia within their souls. For Rodinians however it’s far more complicated due to the hypostasis of the Earth’s soul, as well as the presence of the Iconoclastic ousia too.   Earth is the ultimate authority in the sphere of life that traces its origin to the planet, and it exerts an influence upon the souls of the Rodinians. The Earth’s own wishes form a separate creed tied to the Earth’s hypostasis within each Rodinian soul. The creed of the Earth is generally understood to be actions that increase the presence of the Earth’s life throughout the universe, and therefore the power of Earth’s soul. Rodinians aligning closely to this creed are believed to experience greater baseline psikinetics than those who don't.   However, the current creed of the Earth is also believed to be in opposition to that of the Creator (as increasing the prevalence of the Earth’s biosphere will detract from other biospheres, decreasing overall diversity of life), and hence total observation of one creed and fulfilment of one hypostasis will detract from the other. This is what’s known as the Earth-Theosis Paradox in Rodinian theological circles, and attempts at resolving it are a major source of spiritual activity with many different sects and religions existing each with different philosophies and approaches. Its resolution is believed to lead to a state called Hypostatic Coherence, where all the hypostases within the soul are in perfect agreement with each other, and complement each other fully rather than interfering with each other.   The Rodinians who defeated Archnadrakian Balaine three million years ago were believed to have existed in a state of near hypostatic coherence between the wishes of the Earth and the wishes of the Creator, as defeating Balaine and the Ninth Caste was exactly in line with those two creeds. In that moment, Rodinians temporarily achieved near perfect Theosis.   Since then, however, they've slipped away from it. Their increasingly isolationist inward thinking and abandonment of the cosmos to decline and savagery has led them further from the creed of the Creator and further from Theosis. At the same time, they're now also in opposition to the Earth’s wishes of spreading her life throughout the universe. This is believed to have produced a marked drop-off in their power since old times.   However, given that even in this weakened state they still vastly outstrip everyone else’s highest possible ceiling of power and ability (in any regard), there's been little to no backlash about the political changes that invited this decline.

Effects of Theosis

Broadly speaking, Theosis increasingly bypasses the cost or requirement for performing any action. This is ultimately what a miracle is; to achieve an outcome without devoting the required resources, energy, time, input or action. The outcome simply happens.   Theosis begins with some very simple, passive effects (known as extants), and progresses with increasing praxis into charisms. As one's praxis grows, so too does the power of Theosis within them. This, in turn, increases the degree to which they can bypass the requirements for attaining a specific outcome. In other words, the strength of their miracles (or charisms) increases.   This manifests as pure willpower becoming the dominant factor in manipulating the world, as opposed to the soul either consciously or subconsciously using psikinetics to manipulate quantum effects. As this 'Power of the Will' via Theosis increases, reliance on psikinetics diminishes. The outcome is that someone can achieve the same effect with Theosis charisms as what they can achieve using psikinetics, with fewer costs than using psikinetics (such as the knowledge and complex mental computation required, psikinetic burn-out, etc). They simply 'will it to happen', and so it does.   Other phenomena become possible, such as obtaining knowledge without use of the senses (I.e. precognition, and other clairvoyant abilities).   Generally, the following stages are observed as one's praxis deepens:
  1. Knowledge Release: One needs to understand less about the systems they wish to influence, including less required cognitive computing for the desired psikinetics.
  2.
  3. Miro release: the cost of psikinetics goes down. Eventually, even symmetry violations cost less.
  4.
  5. Sensory release: One can obtain knowledge of an event without observing the actual event.
  6.
  7. Corporeal release: One can obtain certain qualities such as spacelessness, and immortality.
Many regard deepening praxis and Theosis as bringing one closer to the Creator in essence - omniscience, omnipotence, eternalness and omnipresence. However this is somewhat debated as limitations still do exist, discussed further below.   The effects and powers granted by Theosis are very individualistic, as individuals can obey the praxis of Theosis to varying extents. Some of low praxis will only be capable of the most basic phenomena, whilst those of higher praxis will attain much wider power.   Theosis acts outside of the sandbox of physics, and can compel actions and phenomena impossible even with the most powerful psikinetics. If psikinetics produces low-grade miracles, then Theosis produces high-grade miracles. These higher-level miracles within Theosis are commonly referred to as Extants and Charisms.   Extants are passive and result simply from the presence of the divine Theosis ousia within a soul. They'll continue for as long as the soul satisfies the requirements of Theosis (whether spiritual power or praxis).   Charisms are high-grade miracles invoked as an action, as opposed to the always present Extants.

Limits of Theosis

Theosis can negate the costs of performing any action, except costs that would be impossible for the soul or person to pay otherwise. In other words it can't bypass fundamental limitations the soul may have.   For example it could negate the cost of a Rodinian lifting a starship, as this is something a Rodinian can easily accomplish anyway. In this case, Theosis is allowing the Rodinian to do something they can already do, but with no exertion upon their soul and no psikinetics used. This frees up their soul to do other things with their psikinetic/Miro budget. It also means they don't need to calculate the psikinetics required. A Rodinian who isn't trained as a healer could nevertheless "will" another Rodinian rapidly back to full health, as they could in theory learn this skill with enough time. There's no fundamental reason they can't do it.   That same Rodinian cannot gravitationally unbind a star in one second however, because their soul would ordinarily be incapable of generating so much energy. This is a cost the power of Theosis within them cannot erase, and is therefore a level of miracle they cannot perform. Only by increased praxis can they raise the fundamental limitations on their soul, as this grows the power of the Theosis ousia within them and therefore grows their soul, making it intrinsically more capable. This is also the only way the range of their soul's spiritual powers can be increased too, as this is another fundamental limitation Theosis can't overcome – it can't act outside the soul's range of effect.

Extants

Extants are always present and active within a dihypostatic soul in possession of the Theosis ousia, so long as that soul continues to meet the power and praxis requirements.

Geometric Spiritual Scaling

The power of a soul possessing more than one ousia (all beings who possess Theosis, in other words) will scale with the square of their dyne. This means the power and precision of any psikinetics are increased by the square of their original pre-Theosis power. The addition of a second hypostasis of a different ousia is therefore a geometric increase and not merely additive. This is why Nadrakians and Rodinians are so much more powerful than anyone else.   For example, if a monohypostatic soul could lift 10 kg with telekinesis before being imbued with the Theosis ousia, then afterwards it'll be able to lift not 20 kg, but 100 kg. If they could lift 100 kg before, then they’d be able to life 10’000 kg now. They are at this point a dihypostatic soul.

Primacy

Another reality of hetero-ousian souls is the concept of primacy. Souls of one hypostasis from one ousia only (homo-ousian) cannot interfere with or override hetero-ousian souls. They're instead completely overruled.   This concept can be likened to dimensionality. Mortal souls of the vita field only possess a single spiritual dimension (ousia). Dihypostatic souls from different ousia however possess two orthogonal spiritual dimensions representing the two different ousia. This makes the souls with Theosis planar in nature, whilst mortal souls are simply linear. Most of the planar dihypostatic soul therefore exists across a spiritual dimension inaccessible to the monohypostatic mortal soul, making the mechanisms by which that higher soul operates also beyond its reach (such as the higher soul’s psikinetics). The linear mortal soul can also be entirely viewed and accessed by the planar dihypostatic soul, making the mechanisms of the lower soul easy to view, understand and interfere with.   Primacy is what makes Nadrakian and Rodinian psikinetics totally unbeatable. They aren’t just orders of magnitude stronger and more precise. They are intrinsically always going to win, even if on paper they were somehow outclassed in raw power and precision alone. When a Rodinian or Nadrakian body is assaulted by the psikinetic output of a monohypostatic soul, the psikinetic reinforcement of the bonds in their bodies simply flat out reject those psikinetics. Likewise, Nadrakians and Rodinians dismantle the psikinetics of others with minimal effort no matter how much power or thought has been put into crafting them. It's as though no one else in the universe actually has psikinetics at all.   When the Rodinians received the power of Theosis during the Blood Harvest, they became dihypostatic souls on the same level as the original Nadrakians, and hence could interact with their psikinetics. They were as yet unable to fight back against the Ninth Caste Nadrakians however until they later awakened the ousia of Iconoclasm, as the Ninth Caste possessed trihypostatic souls. Trihypostatic souls are superior in primacy to both mono- and dihypostatic souls.   A dihypostatic soul can still create psikinetics with monohypostatic properties if they wish, but the reverse can never happen.

Telepathy

Telepathy is to know the thoughts of another, and to make another aware of your own thoughts too. This is a passive effect of Theosis and classed as another always extant effect of possessing its ousia.   Telepathy is technically capable with psikinetics where one can influence and “read” the signaling within a creature's brain, but this requires an extensive understanding of that brain that'd be difficult and time-consuming to obtain.   Telepathy under Theosis however is a spiritual power where one soul reaches out and into another soul to exchange thoughts. As souls don’t mix (especially those created from different spiritual potential), this power circumvents the notion of souls as discreet entities.   Telepathy can develop into mind manipulation and control, which is typically called possession at that point.

Charisms

Charisms are high-grade miracles allowed exclusively through the power of Theosis, activated upon command. Like extants, the manifesting soul must satisfy the power and praxis requirements for whatever charism they choose.   Charisms also often come with costs, usually in the form of placing greater stress upon the manifesting soul. Several deduct from a soul's Miro budget, which is the total amount of spiritual activity it can perform before suffering Burn-Out. In that sense they act similar to psikinetics in psikinetic Burn-Out, however Theosis Burn-Out takes longer to recover from.

Halos of Dyne

When a soul invokes a charism under Theosis, a halo will appear around the point of linkage between the soul and physical world (i.e. usually the brain). Examples of when this can be seen are:
  • When a Nadrakian or Rodinian release their Theosis aura into the surrounding environment.
  •
  • When a dihypostatic soul invokes Theosis to increase their abilities through empowering their soul beyond its normal range of operation, such as increasing the power of their psikinetics.
  •
  • Invoking a specific charism.
During battles between Rodinians and Nadrakians it’s common to see these halos of condensed spiritual dyne above the heads of their warriors as they fight. If someone invokes a short-lived charism then the halo may only briefly appear before vanishing in the blink of an eye.   Halos have different appearances from individual to individual, and tend to fall into the cooler side of the colour spectrum – white, grey, blue, cyan, turquoise, desaturated greens, etc.

Symmetry Violations

Even with psikinetics, certain quantities like energy, momentum, angular momentum, etc need to be conserved. To melt something by increasing molecular and atomic vibrations using psikinetics, you must first source the extra energy from somewhere else. Then, you move this energy from that location into the target to melt, via your soul as the channelling conduit.   If you wish to move something using telekinesis, then momentum needs to be conserved too. If you lift a cup, then the required reaction force from lifting the cup against the force of gravity needs to be delivered into something else, such as the ground. Your soul, again, acts as the channeling conduit linking both objects (cup and ground) together, and through which the momentum (and also energy) shall flow.   This isn't the case with Theosis. Energy can be created from seemingly nothing, violating the conservation of energy. When this intersects with psikinetics, the user no longer needs to obtain energy from somewhere else to, for example, move an object with telekinesis or excite a quantum field to create particles of one kind (such as photons for light or heat). They can create it from nothing within whatever system they're influencing.   The energy seems to come from within the soul itself, to be imbued into the system being altered. As the soul must still channel and deliver this energy, the same rules apply regarding potential psikinetic burn-out, where the soul can only handle a specific quantity of energy before suffering too much damage to its nimata. The cost upon the soul for using Symmetry Violation seems to be twice as great however, which is understood as the cost of creating the energy from nothing, plus the cost of then moving it into the target system. Burn-out therefore occurs twice as quick if over-exerting using Symmetry Violation.   Symmetry violation is specifically called upon and activated, usually when a Rodinian, Nadrakian or other being with Theosis, requires more energy than what's otherwise available to them in the environment.

Spiritual Auras

A spiritual Auras is a field of dyne radiating out from a soul. For beings with Theosis instilled within them, their auras can influence the surrounding environment in specific ways according to the nature of the soul in question. Most beings have a spiritual aura, but only those imbued with Theosis have auras capable of directly influencing the world around them without direct psikinetics from the soul itself.   These auras are a violation of the normal behavior of dyne, where it doesn’t interact with the cosmos unless it has condensed into a soul for the purposes of directed psikinetics.   Auras become transformed upon invoking this charism, turning from an intangible field into an active, shaping force in the environment. There's a cost to this, as the soul must furnish from its total psikinetic budget the energy required for the changes its making around it. Therefore using an aura can be spiritually expensive depending on what its doing, what its range is, volume of affected matter, rival auras to resist and overcome, etc.

Remote Viewing

Remote Viewing is the power to observe events completely outside the range of the physical senses, unimpeded by physical distance or barriers. It’s one of the four powers of clairvoyance in Theosis, the other three being Precognition, Retrocognition and Altercognition. Remote Viewing deals with remote events outside the range of the senses occurring in the present, whereas the other powers observe events through time.   A soul capable of this power can potentially (but not with guaranteed certainty) know all events within its aura. Some Rodinians with auras falling across a planet, who were able to remote view, were practically omniscient with respect to all events on that planet.

Precognition

The second of the clairvoyant powers sees events occurring in the future, and is believed to be a result of divine souls having the ability to move through time as well as space.   Precognition obeys some of the rules of future time travel in the sense that it accesses events occurring within the most probable sequence of future events (In otherwords, the future as it currently stands). It doesn’t however need to obey the rules regarding changing the future. Precognitive beings can change the future without running into the paradoxes that ordinary time travelers run into.

Retrocognition

The third clairvoyant power is obtaining knowledge of past events without having witness it. Those with the power of retrocognition have a greater ability to change the past. Ordinarily, one cannot change the past deliberately, as this would prevent you in future from knowing about the event you would like to change/have changed, thereby stopping you from going back in time in the first place.   Retrocognate knowledge is not subject to this limitation, and so can change the past without their knowledge of the event being affected. This is true only so long as the change they are making doesn’t materially impact themselves however.

Altercognition

The final clairvoyant ability is the power to know about events that can also happen as a result of different past, present and future actions. It allows one to peer into other timelines to see how the future might progress, or how different the present might be, given different past choices made. It’s therefore a wider ranging power than the other three in how it includes other possibilities in its sight.

Resurrection

Reincarnation is where the soul no longer requires any physical anchor to the universe, and can actually recreate the brain that originally created it, thereby relinking itself to the world instead of dissolving back into the planetary aura it’s embedded within. Reincarnating souls are therefore able to survive the death of the body, and are truly immortal. Self resurrection alone is an extent, usually found in exceptionally powerful dihypostatic souls.   Individuals capable of this are also usually capable of resurrecting others, pulling their soul back from the vita field and relinking it to another neural net. This is a Charism.   This power is profound because it implies the ability to reverse the disintegration of a soul without it being tethered to reality, indicating that self can in fact be restored after death. In the case of reincarnation, the self seemingly brings about its own existence again.

Spacelessness

Spacelessness refers to the supposed ability of a soul to “leave the universe”. One of the reasons why some people believe the vita field extends from beyond the universe is due to the reported ability of some souls to travel beyond the confines of time and space.   This power has never been verified. As we are all embroidered into space-time, it makes little sense to suggest we can leave it. An embroidered pattern cannot leave the bedsheet it’s threaded into, otherwise it loses its form. Yet, some maintain faith that it can happen. This faith gets stronger the closer the Billowing gets.
