Invisible Brigades

The Arati Taxarchia is a loose association of libertarian militant cells in the Republic of Kaisa. Members of the group have claimed responsibility for hundreds of acts of sabotage and political assassinations over the course of the Kaisan White Terror. As there is no organizational structure and any group can claim to be a part of the brigades, it is difficult to pin down the group's activities.

History

Arati Taxarchia was formed in the late 1330s, preceded by several earlier libertarian armed-struggle groups. It is best analyzed within the framing of the White Terror as both a response to and continuation of the Kaisan Revolution of 1333, where the Arati Taxarchia and other underground armed groups were a part of the revolution shifting its strategy into a more clandestine phase. As the bosses began to hire armed thugs to intimidate and assassinate unionists, the Kaisan state imprisoned and murdered radicals , and echelarist violence was left entirely unchecked, many libertarians began to retaliate through assassinations of politicians, Etnofroura and National Police officers, and bosses.   It is unknown exactly how the name caught on, but a number of these cells began calling themselves the Arati Taxarchia. Their first communique was submitted anonymously to 'O Eleftheriakós', a Kaisan libertarian newspaper. The letter claimed responsibility for the bombing of an Etnofroura checkpoint the previous evening and concluded with the following message.
We are the people too frightened to strike back against the boot on their throat. We are the refugee in the ghetto, the mother mourning her child's death in a capitalist war, the revolutionary imprisoned, the starving in the streets. We are an invisible brigade among the faces you overlook, and we will not wait for freedom.
— Unknown Brigadier
In the years since, associated groups have robbed banks, performed bombings, and murdered bosses accused of union-busting. Plenty of people and even entire cells claiming alliegance have been caught and killed or imprisoned, but the completely distributed nature of the group has made it nearly impossible to stamp out for good.   Due to their amorphous nature and their violent tactics, the Arati Taxarchia has become a scapegoat for the Etnofroura. Many imprisoned and executed people have been accused of association with the group, and there are plenty that likely had nothing to do with the brigades.

Organization

The Arati Taxarchia is not a normal organization, even by libertarian standards. It is composed of affinity groups that are connected by a loose and informal network, designed to resist harsh political repression and act with maximum autonomy. There is no encompassing strategic structure to provide direction. This has made the group nearly impossible to eradicate or infiltrate, but it also limits their capacity to commit to any strategic approach beyond sporadic attacks. However, many members of the Arati Taxarchia are also involved in other groups, such as the SEK-ESK.

Ideology

While the group is predominantly libertarian, there is no party line or official ideology, nor any requirement to call yourself a member, beyond taking action into your own hands. However, the group's membership tends towards the more hardline and individualist side of libertarianism. Puristis are common among the membership.
