Bubble Bands
Bubble bands are a piece of applied Suspended Bubbles technology to create enhanced jet streams that can propel a person, group of people or most commonly, lightweight pods, across large stretches of sea. These are mainly used as long-distant transport between Merfolk settlements or as a pseudo-metro system within larger Merfolk settlements such as the Merian capital of Mercia.
Initially invented by Anna-Alexandria Abyssalweaver with her part-manifesto, part-idealistic-dream Song of the Sereneties the technology for Mercian Fortification and thus Suspended Bubbles was concepted as an idea that seemed logical and fruitful but would take a great deal of both societal and infrastructural change to Mercia, but due to the revolution and the riots caused by the Sereneties's protesting and lobbying, such technologies came to be, and helped bring about a new, intraconnected revolution and a brighter future for the Kingdom of Meria.
Power Generation
The Bubble bands use an element known as Merianite to control and redirect the torrents and tides into specific pressured chambers made to withstand and harness the propulsion, the power is absorbed by the Merianite itself and expelled when undergoing a specific alchemical reaction to unload and spend all of the charged energy in a specific way. Such is, when a great deal of Merianite can absorb the tidal flow from the winter storms, it can be expelled in a controlled manner to power the Bubble bands.
