Song of the Sereneties
Song of the Sereneties is an idealistic political manifesto written by Anna-Alexandria Abyssalweaver and heralded by the Sereneties as a foundational document to enact change and the will of the people within Mercia and the Kingdom of Meria as a whole.
It is 14 pages and outlines the current state of the society, it's ties to religion, and how it's current cultural trajectory will lead to ruin, and how to stop it. It breaks down the core start of the problem as well as starts to describe several points of Mercian Fortification and the technology that will become of it, and how such technology can be applied and used to forward Merian society and restore the city to how it was before the torrents of the Merian Sea caused heavy damage to the city.
Purpose
Song of the Sereneties is an idealistic manifesto penned by Anna-Alexandria Abyssalweaver to bring to the high court of Kingdom of Meria to enact change and steer the country away from it's hold within state religion and towards a new future of community-led change, hope, and renewal. It was written after Anna-Alexandria held a talk within the Guild of Architecture and had a realization about the trajectory of Merian society. She found that most of all belief and hope for the future within the internal systems was founded on religious reliance upon the Church of Saint Mercius and the hope that appeasing him could bring peace to the realm. She began her first draft as a thought-experiment to herself as a way to convince herself that Saint Mercius was true, she engaged in thinking of the opposite, if Saint Mercius were not a true and real god, where did the Kingdom of Meria lie, and where would the future hold? She dove into the scientific principals of the underlying causes of the torrents, and how they could be prevented by structural and infrastructure changes instead of a divine savior.
