Elemental Plane of Air
The Elemental Plane of Air is an endless, boundless expanse of open sky, where air, wind, and cloud form the very fabric of reality. It is a realm without a true ground or ceiling, an infinite atmosphere filled with currents, storms, and pockets of serene calm. Here, the air is the element itself—pure, unyielding, and ever in motion.
This plane is characterized by constant movement. Powerful winds sweep across vast stretches of open space, from gentle breezes to roaring tempests. Clouds—some soft and ephemeral, others dense and thunderous—drift freely or spiral through massive sky vortices. Gravity, if it exists at all, is subjective and often oriented toward floating landmasses, skybergs, or elemental structures suspended in the air by unseen forces.
Light may filter in from no discernible source, creating eternal twilight or sunlit brilliance depending on the region. Some areas may appear calm and blue like a high summer sky; others churn with violent storms, lightning, and howling gales. Sound travels oddly—sometimes carried great distances by the winds, other times swallowed in still, soundless air.
The essence of the Plane of Air is freedom and movement. Boundaries are few, permanence is rare, and nothing remains still for long. Solid matter is foreign to this realm, and what does exist—be it floating cities, cloud-castles, or drifting debris—is typically anchored by powerful magic or native elemental forces.
The Elemental Plane of Air represents the raw, uncontained force of wind and sky. It is the breath between worlds, the whisper of storms, and the endless possibility of open space. Traversing it requires flight, magic, or the favor of its ever-moving winds—lest one be lost to the currents of a realm that knows no stillness.
