Rakama Town
Demographics
Around 80% of the population is originally from Silver City, many of whom were escaped indentured workers who fled to avoid crippling debt obligations. Most of these workers were from English-speaking countries.
Government
The town is not governed under any formal structure. The current 'reeve' was appointed by the leading families of the town in 2129 after years of internal strife. The reeve acts as both a conciliator finding common ground between the heads of the families and a sheriff enforcing what few laws exist.
Infrastructure
The town's power is generated by a fusion reactor salvaged from the shipwreck of a corporate cargo vessel. An indoor vertical farm supplies most of the town's food.
Geography
The town is located on the southeastern part of the island on a natural harbor. The soil is rocky and thus poor for agriculture.
Climate
The climate is classified as tropical savanna, with distinct wet and dry seasons of relatively equal length.
