The Under Realm

The Under Realm is a sub-realm that exists within the realm of Tarnyk. It is widely viewed in a similar light to an underworld- which is likely due to gateways into the Under Realm being built downward into the ground, and the Under Realm itself having a rather cavernous ceiling without a glimpse of the sky. The Under Realm is home to those considered undesirable by Ayrath and The Surface Realm (the technical term for the Tarnyk Realm), such as Tieflings, Dragonborns, and Drow. It is ruled by the Underking- a figure hated by The Surface Realm but adored by the Under Realm.

Geography

The Under Realm is largely a cavernous land, possessing a vast stone roof making the sky entirely inaccessable- if there's even a sky to begin with. However, the Under Realm is still incredibly diverse, despite its cave-like nature. There are spans of lava and molten rock that take up many miles of land. These Lavalands are more common the closer to the ends of the Under Realm you get, but they exist all across the land. To the west, there is a frozen region where everything is consumed by layers of ice. The Frostland is covered in strips and streaks of igneous rock where lava rivers once flowed like they do in the Lavalands. A mushroom forest exists to the northeast, with some of the most diverse plantlife in the Under Realm. However, it is forever consumed by fog, and people often disappear there. The Under Realm is made up of many other smaller regions that make up the diversity of the sub-realm, with the three mentioned here making up a small amount of its geography.

Tourism

Tourism in the Under Realm is rare. It is heavily looked down about -literally and figuratively- so people don't care to visit it. In fact, the majority of the population of The Surface Realm do everything in their power to stay out of the Under Realm.
