Harbor Town
Harbor Town is a settlement located on Desolai Island. It has around 150 residents, making it an incredibly small, tight-nit community. They don't get many visitors, being on a rather isolated island where very few people ever come to visit.
Demographics
Every occupant of Harbor Town comes from the Ayrath mainland. While very few are aware of Harbor Town's existance, those who are view it as a peaceful and welcoming community, making it a relatively unknown yet well-liked place to move to. The occupants of Harbor Town come from every corner of Ayrath, and even some from other islands beyond its borders.
Government
Harbor Town has a small, simple government: They have full-town assemblies that are run by whoever Harbor Town elects as mayor every three years, where the people can propose and vote on laws. With their small and respectful population, these assemblies are actually quite effective, although the people of Harbor Town are aware that if their town continues to grow they will likely need a new system of government.
Defences
Harbor Town itself is almost completely defenceless. They have no malitia within the town itself or any form of security beyond a lighthouse always manned with two people to keep an eye out for incoming ships and a few guards at the edge of Harbor Town to keep any potentially dangerous people or creatures from getting into town. They have an actual trained fighting force in Fort Harbor, but being only around 25 members strong, there's only so much they can protect from. Harbor Town has no walls and very few weapons within its borders, and they heavily rely on their ability to get to Fort Harbor in case of emergency, the only place they have that is actually practical to defend from a serious threat. The people of Harbor Town simply hope that no real threats come their way, and that they can live their lives in peace, without need of increased defences.
Infrastructure
Harbor Town was one large, wide road that starts at the Southern end of the harbor and runs straight up through the town, splitting into two near the top around the city hall. The rest of the town is tightly-packed buildings and narrow alleyways, trying to cram as many buildings as they can into the limited amount of space they occupy on the island's peninsula.
Tourism
For the 150 years that Harbor Town has existed, it has never been a frequent tourist destination, not even getting annual visitors to their town outside of people considering moving there. However, since the legendary Samryn's passing and the rumors that his mass wealth are hidden somewhere on Desolai Island, Harbor Town has boomed as a tourist destination for those who come searching for treasure in recent months. But the visitors that Harbor Town gets are not the kinds of people their peaceful town is prepared to deal with....
Geography
Harbor Town is located on a peninsula on the Southern end of Desolai Island. It is almost entirely surrounded by ocean, with its only source of clean water being from Desolai Lake up by Fort Harbor, which is more inland than Harbor Town itself. Harbor Town is located on incredibly flat terrain, and what unevenness there was to the peninsula before they got to it has since been flattened due to Harbor Town's construction. The whole island used to be forest, but because of Harbor Town's need for resources so they can continue to expand their town, there is a portion of the Southern end of the island that was once turned into an empty plain. The people of Harbor Town have since begun working towards reforestaion (in part due to their treaty with the Forestfolk), but the land nearest Harbor Town is still nowhere near the full forest the rest of the island is.
