Punchbowl Mountains

The Punchbowl Mountains are situated in the heart of the island of Dalkaria, surrounding and feeding the large inland Lake Syber. These mountains are tall and capped with snow year-round, which melts at the lower altitudes and trickles down into the lake. There is a bit of vegetation in the lower reaches, aided by the humidity and moisture from the lake, but the majority of the mountain range is rocky and desolate, with steep peaks and treacherous rocky ravines.   The mountains surround the lake almost entirely, which is where they got their name. The only open portion is on the lake's northern edge, where two settlements have slowly grown over time to take advantage of the lake's bountiful fish and other products. The mountain range itself is fairly thin, with usually only one or two large peaks between the lake and the "external" plains, forests, or tundra.
