Forbidden Forest

Along the western edge of the island of Dalkaria lies a massive forest that is - as far as anyone knows - uninhabited and rarely ventured into. The large pine and fir trees grow and thrive in the humid but cold climate, and the inland sides of the forest are mostly protected by mountain ranges - Kayalith's Toes and the Punchbowl Mountains.   The Forbidden Forest is so named because of the multitude of portals that open to the Feywild and Shadowfell, allowing creatures from those realms to travel back and forth through the portals and making it dangerous for people to explore lest they walk through a portal unexpectedly. Apart from the extraplanar creatures that sporadically call this forest home, there are also many ferocious beasts, as well as giants and a few rumored dragons, that prowl the area and make quick meals of most unsuspecting adventurers who try to hunt them.
