Abundant Forest

The forests on the eastern side of the island of Dalkaria are lush and teeming with game - hence the name. Technically, most geographers class this area as two different forests - one slightly more temperate and one decidedly boreal - but because they join without a noticeable gap, most people consider them as one entity. The southern stretch is dominated mostly by large oak, ash, and aspen trees, while the much larger northern area boasts more firs and pine trees.   Besides the towering trees, the Abundant Forest boasts at least two dozen different types of berries within its borders - all very plentiful - and a ready stock of game animals. These are harvested and hunted, respectively, by people from the nearby villages and towns that rely on the forest for sustenance. For many generations and centuries, the forest has provided a comfortable and steady livelihood for these people, and they have returned the favor by honoring nature's balance and only taking as much as they need. The towns tend to have several revered druids who watch over the conditions of the forest and direct people when to gather or hunt - all in protection of the wilderness as dictated by the deities Talia and Síohann.
