Southern Plains
Archivist's Excerpt from: Alone in the Cold: The Story of Orphan Towne, its Strange History, & its Stranger Occupants, CVI 42.4
Around and northward of the settlement of Orphan Heights lies the dead and expansive (well, where do you suppose the name came from?) Southern Plains, a sweeping landscape of rocky dunes and wind-woven crystalline sand. Isn't much more to say about it, really. It's quite typical faire for The Expanse, and about the only thing to be found in it of any interest whatsoever (assuming the reader doesn't possess an unnatural and unhealthy interest in dead trees or scraggly, migratory fowl) is the smattering of Expanse Ruins to be found here and there, and they aren't very interesting, either. It might be best to go seek out a different excerpt.
