Expanse Ruins
Archivist's Excerpt from: Alone in the Cold: The Story of Orphan Towne, its Strange History, & its Stranger Occupants, CVI 42.4
Quite visible from Orphan Heights, though not in any real detail, many small ruins of some curious ivory-coloured stone litter The Expanse. They are of little use, either for shelter from the lethal Storms of the Expanse, or from one's in-laws. No evidence remains as to who might have once built them, nor even for what purpose, they having been long since stripped of any useful relics or materials.
All the ruins predate the arrival of the Galó by at least a few millennia, so their involvement is decidedly unlikely. As for Orphan Heights, seeing as it has been in the The Expanse for even less time than the Galó, their involvement is even less likely.
Regardless of their origin, what is noteworthy is the impossible mastery of their craftsmanship. Alvin Esker of Harchester noted, upon seeing them up close, that not even the technological wonders of Orphan could produce stones cut and set to such perfection, nor etched with designs so masterfully, so they have the added effect of making all who find them feel quite inadequate.
