Sleeping Giants of the Yedak
Archivist's Excerpt from Alone in the Cold: The Story of Orphan Towne, its Strange History, & its Stranger Occupants, CVI 42.4
There is an old Galó myth, the Ghost Gallies of the Expanse, which tells of ancient ships and gods and other quasi-interesting things which the reader can discover in the entry related to this one, but it is suffice to say that, among the contemporary Galó of Jalóheim, there are two great shadows that stand high at the rim of the old Lakebed, the Sleeping Giants of the Yedak, so called for an old folk tale in Orphan Towne of two great skeletons of ancient enormous travelers that would come to life and devour any poor approaching souls; this myth has been disregarded by scholars as having been derived from Orphan’s mothers, persuading their children to remain within towne, with the additional bonus of frightening them into doing their chores.
Regardless of their nature or origin, The Galó do not go near them, and warn others likewise, though they have often suspected that these hulking shapes (whatever they are) are a stronghold for Clan Faldin. For the locals of Jalóheim, it is enough to cite the legend of the Ghost Gallies of the Expanse, and call it that.
