Orphan’s Lodge

Archivist's Excerpt from: Alone in the Cold: The Story of Orphan Towne, its Strange History, & its Stranger Occupants, CVI 42.4

To clarify the obvious conflation at the offset: this Excerpt regarding The Expanse is totally unrelated to Orphan Heights, despite the name. It is a quite literal lodge for orphans in Jalóheim, not so much an orphanage in the traditional sense as a shelter-home for those without families to live on their own. While it is under the supervision of the Shrinemaids and has its own enforced set of rules regarding property and space allotment, the orphans within are largely considered "on their own" in nearly all other aspects.

Though the Orphan's Lodge housed nobody of historical note for most of its history (if there is any such horrendous concept), this ended with Hana Sóholdt, who is the most historically important nobody who almost ever lived. Regardless, she called the Orphan's Lodge her home until the time of her departure from Jalóheim, and she ended up trading one Orphan for another.
