The Consequences

The Consequences is a revolutionary organization responsible for initiating and spearheading the 718 restructuring and reform of the Federal government. Coalescing in the aftermath of the Severing, the Consequences gained social and political influence after they orchestrated the release of mass quantities of previously-classified documents detailing the Federation's history of human rights abuses and illicit human experimentation. They are also widely believed to be responsible for the early-718 restoration of the Myth and the subsequent arrival of the God Machine.

Members

The Consequences consists of six core members and many other affiliates and allies; the group is not strongly delineated, so different sources have given varying accounts of the extent of the group's network of affiliates. As of mid-718, the group's core members have dispersed within and outside of the Federation, some taking on roles in the Federal government's transition. Despite this, the members of the Consequences are broadly considered to remain active and allied, and they are assumed to be working towards the same ends.

Activities

Several members of the Consequences are survivors of the Federation's programs of illicit human experimentation. In 717, the Consequences began systematically liberating other survivors, with particular focus on the remaining members of Project Vanguard. As part of this work, member Mor Bulgumri developed a novel surgical technique to remove the cybernetic implants that enabled long-distance psionic control of Vanguard legionnaires. Gathering documentation to serve as evidence of the Federation's history of human rights abuses quickly became another priority; the group ultimately released this documentation to the public, setting off a public outcry that is widely regarded as the beginning of the Federation's reform movement.   While the movement to restructure and reform the Federal government picked up speed, the Consequences played a significant role in the transition. As of 718, several members of the Consequences retain positions in the Federal government, including Daigonis Ūdris, who was appointed as a New Federal Committee Representative, and Sesuj Toracsi, who took on a position the head of the guard division responsible for the protection of the new government. As an international group with affiliates within and outside of the Federation, the Consequences played an important role in establishing diplomatic relationships on behalf of the new Federal government. Among the members who did not take positions in the Federal government, several moved on to serve as ambassadors, including Mor Bulgumri and Satuj Toracsi, who as of 718 are on a diplomatic mission to Norsivar. Similarly, Consequences member Seven returned to a high-level military role in her homeland of Toluca; many believe her presence there to be a reason why diplomatic relations between the Federation and New Xalotl have remained constructive. Evidently, the group's influence on the national and international policies of the Federation remains significant.   The activities of the Consequences were not solely political. The 718 restoration of the Myth is attributed to the work of the Consequences. Following the subsequent arrival of the God Machine, the Consequences moved quickly to inform the populace about its presence and the technology derived from it, an effort spearheaded by Consequences member Nikto Blouin, who became a first-line expert in ensouled machinery during their time in the group.
