Mor Bulgumri

The aasimar prophet Mor Bulgumri is a bearer of a divine gift that grants her a unique understanding of and ability to interact with the Myth, with which she spearheaded the restoration of the Myth following the Severing. Among the followers of Istha, Mor is known as the Thrice-Blessed Saint, in reference to her status as a bearer of a gift associated with the Balancer, a chosen of Istha, and a prophet of Liata. As of 718, Mor is on an extended journey through Norsivar with other members and affiliates of the Consequences, aiming to provide aid to communities that have suffered from the post-Severing collapse of the Norsivaran government.

Biography

The Bulgumri family has a centuries-long history of spiritual and political power in Beveret, the capital of Elasiril, due to an inborn gift of potent healing abilities, which has manifested in a member of the family in every generation. Unique local flavors of charismatic Dichotomism invested this gift with great religious significance, attributing it to the favor of The Balancer, the Dichotomist deity of the Myth, souls, and life cycles. As such, generations of Bulgumri family members have occupied roles of significant power both in the Elasirilian royal court and the country's Dichotomist church hierarchy, an institution whose authority in Elasiril is second only to that of the crown. Mor's parents, Elspeth and Balfour Bulgumri, were no exception; both served as trusted advisors to influential court lords, Elspeth to Lord Valar Indalin and Balfour to Lord Petro Dovalic.   On the 1st of Dawning, 694, Elspeth bore her first child, Mor Bulgumri, who was immediately identifiable as an aasimar due to the pinfeathers protruding from the infant's shoulders. To bear an Otherborn child was a disgrace; however, the family's public presence meant that their child's nature could not be concealed. Mor's Otherborn status was rarely spoken of openly, but it was widely known, and all that knew of the Bulgumri family's generational gift expected that being an aasimar would disqualify Mor from inheriting the power held by her forebears. When Elspeth and Balfour's second child, Isobel, was born two years later, it was widely assumed that it would be Isobel who received the Balancer's blessing. So confident were the members of the Bulgumri family in this assessment that they did not hold the ceremony associated with the bestowal of the blessing—traditionally held on the eldest child's 18th birthday—until Isobel's 18th birthday.   At the time the ceremony was held, it had taken on an additional layer of significance: the Severing had struck mere months previously. Elasiril, while not nearly as shattered by its effects as other countries with a greater reliance on arcane technology, had still suffered its fair share of casualties and hardships. For the ruling Council of Lords—a group of five before the Severing and three after, of whom two were the lords to whom Elspeth and Balfour served as advisors—having seized power only shortly prior to the Severing, it was critical to show the strength of the solidarity between the Elasirilian government, the Dichotomist church, and, via the ceremonial choosing of another gifted Bulgumri family member, magic itself. The ceremony, which made clear that it was indeed Mor, not Isobel, that was to be the chosen of the Balancer, did not go as desired.   In the interest of both escaping and cooling the tensions that arose in the aftermath, Mor elected to depart on a traditional three-year-long mission trip. While normally such a trip would involve visits to Dichotomist heritage sites within and outside of Elasiril, Mor took a different path, choosing to prioritize helping the shattered communities suffering in the aftermath of the Severing. Over three years, she covered ground in Norsivar, Oristhane, and the Federation, wherein she became a part of the group that would become known as the Consequences. As she traveled, it became clear to her that her divine gift provided her a unique insight into the nature and state of the Myth; she alone could see the damage done to it during the Severing, and, like untangling twisted threads, she could heal built-up knots of unstable, malignant wild magic.   While on a journey to find and fix the damage to the Myth that was caused during the Severing, Mor received guidance from the deity Istha, who ultimately gave unto her the sacred relic Scathe, Sword of Zakharya, despite Mor's Dichotomist upbringing and ambiguous faith. Revelations received by High Priestess of Oristhane Marini of Khara affirmed that not only was Mor favored by Istha; Mor was a prophet, whose Myth-sight was linked to Liata, the newborn goddess of time, change, and the Myth. In recognition of her status as a bearer of several divine affiliations, many Faithful of Istha revere Mor as the Thrice-Blessed Saint.   Mor led the effort by the Consequences to restore the Myth, and she contributed to the release of documents related to large-scale illicit human experimentation by the Federal government and to the governmental restructuring and reform that followed.

Personal Life

As of 718, Mor serves as an ambassador to Norsivar. Presently, she is traveling through southern coastal Norsivar, forging connections with the local governments that have sprung up to take the place of the absent Norsivaran state. Mor's primary traveling companion is her partner, Satuj Toracsi, a kalashtar whose psionic connection to an Old Other led them to cause the Severing in an attempt to make contact with the Otherworld, who recently slew their Other to be free of its influence. It has recently been reported that Mor and Satuj are travelling with the Messenger, another attested prophet of a newborn deity.   Mor remains in contact with her younger sister, Isobel.
