Sesuj Toracsi

The half-elven soldier Sesuj Toracsi is a survivor of a program of experimental surgery and behavior modification that began in their adolescence, imposed upon them with the goal of turning them into a perfect bodyguard for their prodigy twin, the kalashtar archmage Satuj Toracsi. As a member of the Consequences, Sesuj helped bring to light the long history of illicit human experimentation in the Federation. As of 718, Sesuj now serves as the personal guard to former Magelord and current Committee Representative Novia Celsa; they also serve as a Captain of the Guard in service to the New Federal Committee.

Biography

The Toracsi family was one of the first elven lineages to gain patriar status in Vay Proper. Generations of Toracsi scientists, educators, and mages attained high positions in the lecture halls and board rooms of great Vayan universities. Sesuj's mother Zaunia Toracsi was no exception; though she drifted from the high-concept scholarship of the Myth and the Otherworld pursued by her parents, she was adept with applied magic. A shared interest in the elven magical tradition of bladesinging drew Zaunia into a relationship with a human, Kalikor Sorio, whose proletar origins were met with disdain by Zaunia's family, though Zaunia and Kalikor married regardless of this tension.   In the minutes approaching midnight on New Year's Eve, 689, Zaunia gave birth to a strong and healthy half-elven child, Sesuj Toracsi, the first of two twins. Shortly after, the hour, the day, and the year changed, and in the first few minutes of New Year's Day, 690, the second twin was born, Satuj Toracsi, who was at birth a weak and sickly child. Sesuj was close to their twin in their youth, but their relationship was forced apart when Satuj was identified as an arcane prodigy, their early prowess bolstered by psionic powers resulting from the kalashtar nature Satuj hid from all others well into adulthood. Increasingly subject to testing, examination, and regimented routines, the twins were placed on a course that would culminate in Zaunia enrolling 12-year-old Sesuj in a covert program of human experimentation, an offshoot of Project Vanguard known as the Watchman Program.   For years, Sesuj was regularly subjected to surgical procedures and mental conditioning designed to strengthen their body, hone their senses, and weaken their independent will, ultimately becoming the first successful product of the Watchman Program. By the time they returned to their sibling's side as a 17-year-old, Sesuj was a flawless bodyguard for Satuj: strong, tough, unfeeling, and unfalteringly dedicated to their sole goal of ensuring Satuj's well-being. Any ambitions for a life outside of their sibling's shadow had been suppressed. Any impulse to assert their individuality was anesthetized out of them.   Sesuj followed Satuj through Satuj's novitiate and master arcanist's degrees, then to Eclipse International (EI), the employer that would ultimately and unwittingly support Satuj's lethal ambition to tear a hole in the Myth. The more Satuj became embroiled in their work, the more Sesuj's job became protecting Satuj from themselves, their reckless aspiration and their self-neglect. When Satuj's work caused the Severing, Sesuj followed Satuj out of ruins of Vay Proper, through the demolished towns and fragile settlements beyond, and ultimately into the group that would be known as the Consequences.   As part of the Consequences' work uncovering the Federal government's work on human experimentation-based military programs like Project Vanguard, the group also found and released documentation on the Watchman Program, under the supervision of which Sesuj was experimented upon. In this time, the group began de-conditioning Sesuj, an ongoing process. As an active member of the Consequences, Sesuj was also instrumental in the restoration of the Myth and the restructuring and reform of the Federal government.

Personal Life

Sesuj parted ways with their twin Satuj following the start of Federal government reform efforts. As of 718, while Satuj is in Norsivar as an ambassador, Sesuj remains in the Federation as a personal guard to Novia Celsa and Captain of the Guard for the New Federal Committee. Sesuj also works closely with the The Vanguard Veterans' Voluntary Militia.
