Granada City

Architecture

The city of Granada like the rest of its province, is highly influenced by the Moorish conquest and many examples of Islamic architecture can be found throughout the older areas of the city. This can especially be seen in the AlbacĂn neighborhood, and in the Arabic citadel that still stands called the Alhambra. Both are popular tourist destinations.

Geography

The city is situation at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and is at the confluence of four rivers: the Darro, the Genil, the Monachil and the Beiro. It sits over 2,000 feet above sea level, but is only an hour's drive from the Mediterranean coast.
