St. Jerome's Home for Wayward Boys
St. Jerome’s Home for Boys is composed of two primary parts; the original stone monastery and then newer buildings that serve as dormitory and new classroom space for the children. It is situated just north of the small village of Paloma, in the province of Granada. It is within easy walking distance of the home of Florian Grunewald and his childer.
The current abbot and headmaster is Padre Perfecto.
The monastery nearly abuts the forest and is noted for its unusual blending of monks from several different orders. While their primary goal is always placement of boys into stable families, those who are not adopted as children receive a full high school education or vocational training. They sometimes arrange for apprenticeships when the resources are not internally available.
On the grounds, there is also a football field, an extensive vegetable garden, a greenhouse, and a disused olive grove at the far end that nobody can recall ever bearing fruit. As old as the monastery is, it comes complete with catacombs that are largely cordoned off from the student body due to safety concerns.
