Garrim Ingmar

Garrim has bushy eyebrows and small eyes. He looks like he's always scowling. His massive beard hides his mouth so one can never really see it, except when he is laughing. He has one long braid of light brown hair with his head shaved at the sides. A large scar can be seen on the left side of his skull with part of his left ear missing. His nose is typically large and bulbous.

Garrim was born in Ironrock castle as the only child of his parents, lord Bodarim and lady Fyrina. He was educated in ruling and warfare and took to both quite well. His general education didn't go as well, as he is famously barely literate in Common and Dwarvish and cannot speak Draconic or Elvish.
His lack of a general education has led many people throughout his life to believe he is stupid, but that couldn't be further from the truth. His tutors were always impressed with intelligence and lack of interest in anything that wasn't practical to him. Instead of poring over books and increasing his general knowledge, Garrim spent his days fighting the other boys in the courtyard and watching the castle smith work. He learned how to work metal at a young age and would often sneak out of lessons to work the smithy.
His father soon saw that forcing him to learn theory was no use and started taking him with him on his diplomatic journeys. Garrim learned how to navigate political currents by observing his father, even if his vocabulary was rudimentary. Skirmishes with house Reinhild were often at that time and Garrim would accompany his father into battle too. He soon became one of the best warriors in his father's army and later became a proficient tactician and strategist. During one of these skirmishes an axe crashed through his helmet, taking of part of his left ear and leaving a nasty scar on his head.
This continued into his adulthood, until his father died during Meilanion's succession crisis. Garrim suspected he had died under the blades of the King's assassins for not swearing fealty in time, but he could never confirm this and officially his father tripped and fell while crossing the rope bridge in Ironrock castle. Due to this Garrim carries a deep distrust of the King to this day.
