Lichdom
A Lich is a powerful undead entity that rivals a demi-god in scales of power. There are many different kinds of Liches in the world that can be drastically different from one another but all of them have three elements in common
First, when the being was alive, they had to have been very powerful in necromancy magic
Secondly, the being must go through a long, tedious, and painful process; failing key segments of the ritual can result in an agonizing death. The last step of this ritual is for the caster to create a phylactery, an anchor for the would-be Lich to attach their soul onto. Depending on the type of Lich, the phylactery can vary on what exactly it is but the effect remains the same. The soul is no longer within the body and if the Lich were to "die" they would manifest themselves back just outside of their phylactery within the span of 2 weeks
The last element that all Lich's have in common is that once they become a Lich, they must perform a new ritual as a way to maintain their life. Again, depending on the type of Lich, this new process can vary in what they have to do but the results are the same as is the results if they fail to maintain themselves. If a Lich does not perform their maintenance ritual or is unable to do so, they risk losing their sanity and becoming a Bone Claw
