Purloin - Rogue
When a Rogue collects enough secrets and steals enough magical items from its own party, it may attempt to become a Purloin. Purloins use their dark magics to move through areas completely undetected and utilize their deadly efficiency to strike their foes. While most liches prefer to be secluded and completely alone with themselves and their plans, a Purloin's favorite terrain is a densely populated city filled with opportunity
The phylactery of a Purloin is always a single copper coin. The would-be Purloin must complete their ritual by placing their soul directly into the coin and the final step is to spend that coin. Once the coin is in circulation, the Purloin can no longer sense where its phylactery is. If the Purloin falls in combat, it will reform itself somewhere within ten miles of the coin and it must attempt to find it in order to recast their ritual into it
If the Purloin's Phylactery were to ever fall out of circulation by means of either being lost, dropped on the floor and no one picking it up, or being buried in a vault or dragon's horde for too long, the Purloin will then begin to steadily lose its strength. Eventually, if it does not return into circulation, the Purloin will cease to be and die permanently. The Purloin is able to find their own coin again and re-enter it into circulation themselves. Because of this, most Purloins will carve something into their coin or some other indicator so that it is easier to find
Purloins have all the lethality and mobility of a Rogue with all the power of a Wizard. Going one on one with a Purloin is certain death and even when the numbers are on your side, it is more likely to flee from the fight and return later to kill you without you even knowing where it is. The absolute best bet you have against one is to somehow find their coin and bury, throw it into the ocean, or banish it into another plane of existence until the Purloin is weak enough to fight head on
