Laws and Foundations of Golden Medlar Valley
The Laws and Foundations of Golden Medlar Valley is the founding documents which act with some similarities to the Domesday Book that details the different families, assets, and shares within the Valley. It was founded in -94 LAA.
Wendy looks at this document when she is investigating Penaval Hill, which was in use back then but at the time of her life it had been mostly abandoned and used for exiles, discouraging access due to an increase in occult practices and the Godsibb Beleth moving in.
Purpose
The document was written to outline the proper care for Coda, and laws around sustainable farming as the Aphis and Formicii were known to mismanage their resources due to how unstable the political landscape was. The abandoned farms were reconstructed and careful measures were put in to preserve Coda properly, eventually becoming a place of worship due to the unique fruiting trees which grew from the soil around Penaval Hill. This document would reveal itself to be useful when the Catuvellani Aballo arrived in waves in approx ~80 AAC, allowing them to keep most of their territory
Historical Details
Background
The Laws and Foundations of Golden Medlar Valley were founded during the first wave of migrations into the Gloynbyw CoalfieldsTK. The area prior to that had been inhabited by small farming communities of Halfwings and Myacoris, particularly the Aphis and their close relatives the Formicii. These latter communities lived off of orchards and subterranean farms. They were often raided by the Vespula, and the Sarcophaga warbands.
The Order of Bloodwoad stepped in when their landscape became medically significant - when a Gwraig Verth was found on Penaval Hill after a bad storm, one which could house many of the Formicii who largely abandoned their farms. The Order of Bloodwoad as well as some other Citron Courts stepped in to incorporate these areas into the Territories of Kargast, which were communities ruled by the Oak Knowers.
