Golden Medlar Cult
This is an old Myacoris religious cult that prioritizes large families, resourcefulness, and collective living and its doctrine was founded to survive in extreme or inhospitable areas. It is an old religion similar to the practices of Kubeleya, and thus practices like cannibalism and decimation are not unheard of, though it has been modernized in areas close to civilization.
A brief description:
- They worship Eri Hen, who was a badly mutated Deii who claimed to have survived beyond the sea
- She had a series of prophecies about the "fruits of the earth", claiming that one day they would rise and walk on two legs, and speak with their language, with the intent to replace the original inhabitants of the island
- She also claimed this had happened to other places Beyond the Sea
- They have a lot of rituals around gardening and agriculture, having split off from the nomadic and tribal societies of the Sarcophaga and Ambrosii and become more collective and sedentary, seeking to build a utopian civilization which prioritizes agrarianism and slow growth.
Their public agenda (purpose, mission, aims)
- Focused on charity work, similar to a monastery or covenant hospital
- Made up of clans or families, and selective about approved allies or orgs
- Emphasis on community building and collectivism
- Serve as mouthpieces for Eri Hen and her prophecies
- Specialize in agriculture as well as some pharmaceuticals
- Bringing services to rural or low-resource areas
Describe their visuals (flag, motto, uniform)
- Medlars, usually coloured gold, are their symbol and represent patience and longevity
- Warm, neutral colours that mimic the scorched land which they often find themselves settling on
- Any other cults sanctioned within their territories must adhere to their influences
Their secret agenda (if they have one)
- The Cult are fairly mundane in terms of secrets
- They are one of the few cults who don't have a sinister conspiracy going on
- They are mostly concerned with proper behavior and living virtuously in their own communities
- Though they did have proselytization and expansionist tendencies, they were one of the cults around the De that was lost in the formation of the Ganwyll Gwydd culture
