Plea for the Legalisation of Raiding Trash Planets

Just fifteen years ago, the Trash Council, an organised group of Junk Bandits, made a formal plea to the Milky Way Waste Disposal Council to legalise the raiding of trash planets.

Over a hundred junk bandits from across the Milky Way wrote a collective statement, gathering horror stories of their lives on these trash planets, begging the Milky Way Waste Disposal Council to legalise the raiding of trash planets, entire celestial bodies used as dumping grounds for waste.

Trash planets offer zero value to the cultural ecosystem of the Yonderverse, and the Trash Council sees no reason as to why it should be illegal to scavenge these regions for treasures to sell. Due to this practice being illegal, junk bandits are forced to risk their lives in dangerous situations, continuing to scavenge trash planets without the protection that the Disposal Council could offer.

The Plea was twelve thousand words of accounts from junk bandits, both amateurs and professionals alike. It was publicly released in order to encourage the general population of the Milky Way to side with them, and also pressure the Disposal Council into legalising the raiding of trash planets.

Unfortunately, the Plea has not been successful. The Trash Council continues to pressure the Disposal Council, though there is much push back. The Disposal Council is very set in their ways, refusing to budge. Thankfully, there are signs that they might change, and the future legalisation of raiding trash planets will mean junk bandits can operate in much safer environments.
