End the Quiet

The golden age of humanity spanned the galaxy, and the Scream destroyed it all in minutes. The mysterious emanation rippled across the stars, killing billions and destroying all interstellar technology. Isolated from support, entire colonies went extinct, and survivors had no way of contacting each other.   Centuries later, planets have redeveloped space-faring technology. They've reached across the void for long-lost connections, and built new alliances on the promise of shared success.

Start a Riot

Today, promises go unfilled and peace has become a tenuous suggestion. Distrust grows between planets and governments, encouraging all to take selfish routes to get what they want.   Piracy surges as interstellar alliances crumble. Ancient, advanced technology is in high demand, and many are willing to pay any cost to claim it.   Meanwhile, virtual intelligences disappear from homes and businesses. New fears fill people's minds, giving psychic individuals some reprieve from being society's favorite scapegoat.

Live Until You Die

With tensions rising, the average person is left with a choice: weather the storm or march into it. As peaceful as planetary life may seem, the chaos lingers on the horizon and will eventually reach everyone.   We all have a chance to take a stand. What matters is what we stand for.

There's Always More to Discover

A holographic virtual intelligence walks you through checking your luggage before a robotic expert system carts your bags to your ship. It will take two weeks to reach your destination: a planet on the other side of the galaxy, where you'll attend a school dedicated to teaching psychic abilities. You absently read the minds of people around you while you wait. Nearby, a newscaster discusses the implications of newly-uncovered alien ruins, and whether it's true there's even an alien living among us as a human.

Map Legend
Traversable stellar systems. Home to mining operations and rest stops, but no colonized planets.
Key planetary locations supporting human life. Most represent a single stellar system, but Livonia and Janus orbit the same star.
Distance between systems through metadimensional space, unrelated to their physical location in the galaxy.

Everyone is Hiding Something

You arrive at a rest stop carved from the inside of an asteroid. You have twenty-four standard hours to relax before the ship, fully resupplied, leaves for the second half of the journey. Shops offer a variety of paraphrenalia, from clothing to trinkets to food in styles from across the sector, and you spend more credits than you should buying souveniers. Your friends invite you to an interactive film about escaping from an Emerald Legion warship. It'd be more fun if you didn't know the names of family you never got to meet because of the Incursion.

Protectorate Crest by Rin Garnett
The Protectorate Alliance used to share knowledge between planets and keep trade routes safe. After centuries, the organization is struggling to maintain what it built.
Emerald Legion Crest by Rin Garnett
They had no role in stopping the Incursion, an invasion attempt by the Emerald Legion. Despite the Legion's failure, they remain a powerful adversary with spies in most organizations.
Perimeter Agency Crest by Rin Garnett
In response, the Protectorate created Perimeter: a military branch that seeks out and eradicates malicious and inhumane technology. But the first headlines they made were for political overreach.
Invincibles Insignia by Rin Garnett
The average person would sooner trust the Invincibles. The largest mercenary group in the sector is a thorn in the Protectorate's side, and inside sources report questionable black market ties.
Syndicate Emblem by Rin Garnett
Meanwhile, the Syndicate has reappeared after a decade in the dark. The infamous black market group has a new expertise in advanced technology gathered from suspicious sources.

Anyone Can Change History

The ship reaches the edge of the system and breaks free of the star's gravitational pull. The spike drive whirs into action and propels the ship into metadimensional space. Through the windows, the dark of space becomes a swirl of color, like swimming through oil. But your telepathy tells you something's wrong. Crew members have been having strange thoughts, and the usual pilot isn't at the helm. You and your friends have a plan to investigate, when the lights go out...

Night Knights Insignia by Rin Garnett
The Night Knights followed the trail of strange and deadly events to the Emerald Legion. They stopped the Legion's mind control plans and used an ancient super weapon to destroy the invading force.

Gal Pals Logo by Rin Garnett
The Gal Pals made friends with an alien revived in an artificial body. Perimeter deemed that reason to break neutrality with Nisora. The Pals defended themselves but furthered the sector's spiral into chaos.

Starting from the beginning, and thusly, this is a fantastic beginning, I hadn't seen it yet but even if I didn't already love your work this woulda hooked me and sold me 100%. So many potential stories to experience, so many amazing and interesting locales teased and laid out that could be discovered. As I turn over a new leaf to be more engaged in reading and exploring the wonderous imaginations of the community, I'm definitely including Talos en masse in that. :)

This is such a great introduction to the world. I love how we're put right into the world, like I'm at a spaceport pouring over a "you are here" map. I'm always impressed by how smoothly you integrate features like maps and org charts, it all comes together so seamlessly.
