The Thearchy of Rhô

Across the eastern half of the desert known as the Sunrathe Wastes stretches the Thearchy of Rhô; a secular society run by an appointed council of religious elders. Appointed by their God King, an efreeti named Ignazz, to rule in his name, this council stresses strict adherence to social norms, and nationwide religious homogeny.   The people of Rhô are taught that strangers are dangerous, and should be not only avoided but shunned. This stems from Ignazz himself, who wishes to keep his subjects as isolated from the rest of their world as he feels from his.

Structure

The organization's hierarchical structure is bound to change upon Fusa's whim.

Culture

The culture of the place is decidedly xenophobic, with an uneducated population that is specifically taught to mistrust strangers.

Public Agenda

Rhô makes no secret of the fact that they believe the lands claimed by Djinndarra are, in actuality, the western reaches of their own kingdom. They mean to one day "reunite the desert", even though there is no evidence that the Sunrathe Wastes was ever dominated, entirely, by any realm.

Assets

Several small cities and market towns, silica sand, glass, tin, and gemstones in the mountains to the north. Gold and silver mines in the mountains to the east. There are two large salt mines manned by prisoners, far out in the desert, and an iron mine operated by conquered duergar.

History

The three-hundred-or-so year history of Rhô is a cycle of brutally shut-down civil upheaval and periods of relative "peace" wherein the criminals are caught and "dealt with" out of the public eye. There are, occasionally, egregious incidents that make the news in all the nations of Varethys.
