Theta Yaros II

A planet of the Theta Yaros System that is slightly covered with lava around the equator.

Theta Yaros II has a high geological activity and many streams of lava, but only a small fraction of the planet is lava. The area near the poles are notably colder, and there is no lava or even volcanoes around the poles.

This planet is quite hot and has a decent temperature variance, because of the proximity of the local star, which is of spectral class F. 

There are also valuable materials within the crust of the planet. The planet is very barren and lifeless, which makes it uninhabitable to organics but the robotic Zikrat have had no problems establishing a large number of mines and colonies on Theta Yaros II. Much of the material are fissile metals such as uranium, useful in fission reactors and various nuclear processes, but as the Zikrat Scientific Citizenry now have more advanced fusion generators these materials are not as useful. As such, despite the relatively small scale of the mines on Theta Yaros II, the planet supplies the majority of the entire ZSC requirement for these fissile materials. The ZSC also collects lava from the planet to separate it into useful resources, releasing any excess material back into the lava pits. These materials then use the powerful geothermal energy  of the world to refine these metals into usable forms, before shipping them off world. This type of mine is also lucrative for the planet, but can only be built in specific areas with lava. Advances in technology allowed the ZSC to build them in more locations of the planet, but it is still fairly limited. More recent ones have been built into volcanoes.
