Repository Artemis

The first Zikrat personality repository ever built.

Repository Artemis was built well before the zikrat calamity which destroyed their ability to reproduce. Though Artemis was only small in comparison (spanning about 2 km in width and length) and would only hold a population of about 700 000, many individuals began to 'ascend' to escape from organic life and grant themselves an eternal life. Initially, it was easy to use organic workers to sustain the immense computers but over time, more and more repositories were built. They became larger, technology advanced, and more people could ascend. Eventually, the Calamity happens and all zikrat are forced into the repositories. There are no workers left to maintain Artemis, so the 700 000 personalities of Artemis had to remotely control robotic bodies to maintain their structure. This continues for the entire Repository age, until the eventual fall of Artemis itself.

Despite the many workers constantly working to maintain this huge structure, it still fell to slow decay and lack of sufficient workforce and raw materials for replacement parts. It was built in an area where they could obtain the necessary energy quite easily in the form of fissile materials though. Over time, after its death, the structure was salvaged by other repositories which needed to preserve their own functions. By the end of the Repository age, where the zikrat finally managed to build much smaller, mobile robots capable of holding a personality, the Artemis was completely scrapped and only its foundations remained.

Like with other repositories, it is operated mainly by an Operator.

Demographics

Due to the small size of the first Repository, it is populated mainly by the rich.

Defences

Initially, the structure had no defences as they were not required. Over time and during the repository age, they were needed as the other repositories would deploy scrapping teams to dismantle some repositories, so they built a number of turrets.
