Repository 72-R
A large personality repository of the ancient Zikrat Scientific Citizenry.
This megastructure was one of the many similar repositories which would end up collapsing long after it was constructed. Though 72-R was one of the more advanced ones, being built at a much later time from most, there were still failings in its construction, particularly its massive support pillars. Its advanced technology within maintained the structure very efficiently, initially anyway, but this technology eventually broke down over time and eventually the repair units themselves required repairs which became increasingly difficult to perform over time. Of course, with its collapse all of the identities stored in the repository died. Its destruction was slow and gradual until one of its support pillars finally gave in. This caused the whole structure to tilt and eventually the repository itself collided with the water. As it sunk, more of its massive steam releasing chimneys were submerged and water entered the structure at many points, quickly flooding them and destroying most of the computing equipment. With the help of its drones, its computers remained online for a long time despite this while they helped maintain and hopefully rebuild the structure.
In the end, they would complete many more chimneys that would reach the surface, a new water input and even remain at full function for years.
72-R was particularly significant because its population was so high. Even with the advanced technology it was built with, they still needed the structure to be massive to hold the population it was required. The area that it was built in was world famous for having an immense organic Zikrat population, making for about 7% of the population of the species. Though this allowed them to pilot larger amounts of drones, the needs of the structure were very significant and the drones themselves required repairs.
Some parts of the structure remain as a symbol of the ZSC's sacrifice to end the deadly Repository age. Most of the chimneys and support pillars were scrapped for materials, as were an amount of the internal computing machines. Though no longer functional due to water damage and the passage of time, the raw materials were useful for the post-Repository age ZSC, which wanted to reach space at the time.
