Pluton

Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Pluton, the 3rd and deepest layer of Abaddon is a realm cloaked in perpetual gloom and silence. Unlike the diseased plains of Oinos or the icy oblivion of Niflheim, Pluton is defined by emptiness, quiet resignation, and eternal forgetfulness. It is a place where truths, histories, and even entire civilizations are buried beneath layers of dust and shadows, deliberately forgotten or purposefully erased.

Geography

Pluton is cool but not frigid, and carries the humid stillness of a world where the sun never rises. Its lands are covered in gray and silvered groves—dying willows, olive trees, and poplars that forever linger in the final stage before death. These trees do not fall or rot but instead exist in suspended decay. Druids who touch them often speak of hearing whispers of regret and the echoes of trapped souls.   Some planar scholars speculate that petitioners become these trees, twisted not by punishment, but by the weight of their forgotten legacies.

Notable Locations

Fields of Silence
Endless fields of blackened, lifeless soil stretch into an infinite horizon. No sound echoes here; even screams are muted to whispers. The land absorbs emotion and thought, slowly stripping away identity until only hollow shells remain.
Necropolis of Forgotten Kings
A vast, sprawling city composed entirely of crypts, tombs, and mausoleums. It houses the forgotten rulers and heroes of innumerable worlds, their names erased by time. Within its winding streets, spectral archivists loyal to the Ioun attempt to catalogue histories before they're irrevocably lost, though their work is slow, futile, and incomplete.
The Lake of Obsidian Dreams
A massive lake, utterly still and perfectly reflective, like polished black glass. Gazing into its depths reveals forgotten truths and lost memories, but the knowledge is fleeting, vanishing the moment the viewer turns away. Those who linger too long risk losing all recollection of who they are.
Corpus
A surreal city sculpted from the living flesh of once-great souls. Its streets, walls, and towers pulse faintly as they breathe. Beings who enter may find their memories leaking into the cobblestones.
Hagsend
A new place, spawned in 1,051 AB. A recent Scholar from Owhain claims that this is an echo of Madithamna and explain that by unknown reason for its connection, Cegilune, an ancient crone said to be the mother of all night hags, this became the domain woven from the discarded dreams of dying gods, and her court barters in futures lost before birth.
Citadel of Whispered Regrets
A fortress built from black basalt, ruled by powerful daemonic lords who thrive upon despair and regret. Within its halls, captive souls are compelled to relive their worst memories, fueling Mezzofiendish power. Secret chambers beneath the citadel contain archives of forgotten atrocities, meticulously documented by Kyton scribes who savor their work.
Spire of The Raven Queen
Rising sharply into the darkened skies of Pluton, this elegant tower of polished ebony and silver serves as a nexus of memory and judgment. Here, emissaries of the Raven Queen guide souls, preserving critical memories and preparing spirits for final judgment. Valravens circle silently above, their watchful eyes piercing through shadow and oblivion.
The Hill of Bones
A desolate rise where nightmares come to end their existence. It is a sacred place to their kind. To remove even a single bone from the hill is to invoke the fury of every nightmare across the Lower Planes.

Inhabitants

Fragments of Forgotten Souls
Spectral remnants wander aimlessly, their identities erased by the oppressive silence of Pluton. They are shadows, mere echoes of who they once were, fading away entirely unless rescued by Psychopomps.
Psychopomp Archivists
Servants of Ioun who labor endlessly, trying to preserve critical memories and guide spirits to judgment, resisting the plane’s relentless pull toward oblivion.
Mezzofiend Whisperers
Masters of despair, these daemons bargain in stolen memories and forgotten truths, thriving off the desperation of lost and searching souls.
Kyton Keepers
Creatures of twisted enlightenment, kytons here meticulously archive and exploit suffering, turning forgotten despair into macabre artistry.

Localized Phenomena

Sound does not carry properly; all Perception checks relying on hearing are severely impaired, and verbal communication beyond a whisper fails unless magically enhanced.
Memory Erosion
Prolonged exposure steadily erodes memories and personality, requiring maintaining Willpower to avoid losing identity and purpose entirely.
Black Reflections
The Lake of Obsidian Dreams and similar reflective surfaces show visions of forgotten truths, risking confusion, despair, or madness upon prolonged viewing.
