Glitterhell
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
Glitterhell is the divine realm of Orosaban.
Hidden beneath the plague-ridden and corpse-strewn plains of Oinos lies a dazzling aberration in an otherwise ashen void: the glittering domain of Glitterhell. It is a place of radiant splendor and poisonous greed, ruled with tyrannical obsession by the avaricious deity Orosaban, whose hunger for wealth has shaped this subterranean empire into a treasury-prison of eternal labor and hollow luxury.
Orosaban rules as a tyrant whose law is greed incarnate. He believes all treasure within his realm is rightfully his. Petitioners and servants are forbidden to possess wealth, leading to a crude barter economy of goods, favors, and violence. Negotiation often ends in brawls or backstabbing, with no meaningful justice system in place beyond Orosaban’s whims.
Geography
Glitterhell is carved into a vast cavern system far below the surface of Oinos. False entrances—trap-laden golden archways—dot the wasteland above, luring foolish treasure seekers into death or disfigurement. These entrances gleam with rare color in Hades, a siren call amid the endless gray. Most fiends avoid them entirely, unwilling to risk Orosaban's legendary wrath.
Though nearly impossible to find by conventional means, the realm's tunnels wind far, and rumors persist of deep creatures and planar scavengers successfully infiltrating Glitterhell and escaping with stolen riches, though rarely with their minds intact.
In stark contrast to the gray wasteland above, Glitterhell pulses with color, light, and radiant excess. Gold veins spider through the walls. Gems glint in mundane stone. Unlike most of Hades, despair does not fully claim this place, Orosaban actively suppresses the soul-rot of Hades, if only to preserve the productivity of his enslaved petitioners. It is one of the few disease-free regions in Oinos, though it is spiritually sick in its own right.
No treasure within Glitterhell escapes Orosaban's notice. His awareness is omnipresent within the domain—every glimmering bauble, every hidden pouch, even valuables tucked within extradimensional spaces are seen, tallied, and coveted.
Notable Locations
Orosaban's Hall
The heart of the realm and strictly forbidden to all but Orosaban and his proxies. The central chamber houses the Trove of Orosaban, a vault so vast it dwarfs mortal conceptions of wealth. Here, even copper is hoarded with reverence. Trespassers are slain on sight. The Mines
Endless tunnels worked by dwarven petitioners and enslaved outsiders. The only resources extracted are gold, silver, and gemstones while worthless ores are ignored. Legend claims these mines draw wealth stolen from the mortal world itself, explaining why so many veins run dry in Theras. The Village
A ramshackle settlement where the realm’s inhabitants dwell in hovels, shacks, and crude bunkhouses. Nothing of value remains in the village for long as anything deemed beautiful or costly is seized by Orosaban’s command.Inhabitants
Petitioners
Souls of dwarves obsessed with wealth in life now toil eternally for the Trove-Lord. Unlike most in Hades, they are still capable of emotions, especially jealousy, bitterness, and obsession.Planar Beings
Non-dwarves fare worse. Viewed as lesser, they serve as expendable miners, guards, or reluctant crafters. Few survive long under Orosaban’s exacting gaze.History
Glitterhell is often whispered of by planar smugglers and treasure hunters as both a curse and a promise. Many seek it. Few return. Even fewer understand that what waits below the golden doors is not paradise, but the prison of avarice itself.
Tourism
With no legal ownership of valuables, barter is the only permitted form of commerce. Goods and services are exchanged in brutal haggling sessions that often escalate into open violence. The only law that matters is Orosaban’s valuation of worth.
