Lindin Kingdom
Soul Kingdom of the Lightning Region. A kingdom whose industrial revolution allows them to control the power of lightning to fuel their machines and cities. A nation molded by war and revolution, it's King seeks a clandestine destiny of expansion and dominance for his Kingdom.
Lindin, a kingdom forged as a Principality of the mighty Drakengard Kingdom, was founded on the rugged shores of the Lindin Peninsula. Its establishment began under the leadership of Prince Arwen, who served as its first ruler and guided its early development. Initially, Lindin was a loyal vassal state, holding fealty to Drakengard’s capital and growing steadily in both influence and population. However, the kingdom’s history soon became marked by conflict and upheaval. Early in its existence, Lindin faced challenges with the migration of tengu populations—intelligent, avian humanoids seeking to integrate into Lindin's towns and cities. These tensions escalated when the ruling prince at the time imposed harsh, exclusionary laws that restricted where tengu could settle and subjected them to systemic discrimination. These policies laid the groundwork for centuries of unrest, defining Lindin’s volatile history as a nation oscillating between periods of peace and innovation, and eras of war and revolution. A series of brutal conflicts erupted between the tengu and Lindin's human inhabitants as the former fought for their rights, further fracturing the kingdom’s social fabric. As Lindin grew prosperous, its relationship with Drakengard soured. A devastating famine in Drakengard led to steep demands of tribute from its principalities, including Lindin. This overreach ignited widespread dissatisfaction, fueling Lindin’s desire for independence. Capitalizing on Drakengard’s weakened state and the unpopularity of the reigning High King, Lindin declared its separation. The ensuing conflicts saw Drakengard repeatedly attempt to reclaim Lindin, only to fail against the principality’s resilience. This hard-won independence allowed Lindin to flourish as a self-reliant kingdom, fostering new trade routes and diplomatic alliances.
Lindin eventually entered an unprecedented era of technological advancement. Harnessing the region’s unique and ferocious lightning storms, the kingdom developed power cells capable of converting lightning into usable energy. This breakthrough sparked an industrial revolution, propelling Lindin to the forefront of innovation. The kingdom became renowned for its airships, advanced infrastructure, and unparalleled energy systems, transforming it into a technological powerhouse.
With its newfound strength, Lindin turned its gaze back to its former suzerain. Declaring war on Drakengard, the kingdom embarked on a campaign of expansion and retribution. Leveraging its superior technology against the larger and traditionally stronger adversary, Lindin sought to reshape the region’s balance of power and establish itself as a dominant force in the world. All the while, internal conflict continues to afflict the Kingdom. A descenting rebellion has made it known that they are tired and unwilling to stand for this expansionist and cruel regime. The Lindin Resistance, as they call themselves, is a civilian revolutionary force that now stands in stark opposition to the current rule and actions of the crown in Lindin, speaking out in opposition to the war with Astana and seeking social change.
