Dinnel
Lindin's Floating Capital. Once a ground-based portion of the large capital, it was raised kilometers above the ground by a secret culmination of Lindin tech developed by the crown. It is the seat of power and the wealthy aristocrats of the Kingdom.
Dinnel, a marvel of technological ingenuity and a symbol of Lindin’s stark societal divide, is a city like no other. Suspended kilometers above the ground on a massive floating island, Dinnel owes its existence to secretive technology powered by the kingdom’s groundbreaking lightning power cells. This incredible feat of engineering allows the city to levitate perpetually, untethered from the world below, its spires reaching toward the heavens. As the crown jewel of Lindin, Dinnel is the exclusive domain of the ruling class and the kingdom’s wealthiest elite. Its gleaming architecture, intricate gardens, and opulent mansions stand as testaments to the prosperity and privilege of its residents. Airships dock at the city’s floating ports, ferrying goods, dignitaries, and visitors deemed worthy of stepping foot on this lofty paradise. At night, Linnel is a vision of wonder, its streets illuminated by soft, electric lights that seem to dance with the energy coursing through its power cells.
While Dinnel embodies luxury, it is also a city of contrast. Beneath its shimmering facade lies a rigid social hierarchy. Only those deemed essential—merchants, artisans, and servants—are permitted to reside within the city, and even then, they occupy quarters far removed from the grandeur of the elite. The rest of the population, those not fortunate or influential enough to ascend, live in Linnel, the city’s shadowed twin on the ground below. Linnel, the remnants of the original city, has become a sprawling, crowded urban center struggling under the weight of Dinnel’s splendor. While it retains some of its former prominence, it is marked by inequality, its residents gazing skyward at the floating island that once united them. The gap between Dinnel and Linnel is not just physical but deeply symbolic, a chasm that embodies the disparity between Lindin’s privileged elite and the rest of its people.
