Silentiun
Basic Information
Anatomy
Standing between 4-5 ft and weighing roughly 70 lbs on average Silentiun are a small and graceful species. Mostly humanoid in form with the nearest approximation being somewhere between that of a succubus and a gargoyle with a wild temperament and the thorns to match this rose.
Their heads are wrapped in a mane of deceptively soft quills that look like hair that continues down to the middle of their chest and all the way down their spines. The face of a Silentiun is both strikingly beautiful and alien in the same way that a Sídhe(Fey) is. They have phoenix shaped eyes with cross shaped (+) pupils and a third gem-like eye upon their brows, short and wide noses, full lips, and long, back-swept antennae crown them like horns just above sharp ears which are longer than any elf's. Though their smiles are bewitching, they hide powerful jaws with sharp canines grooved like a spitting cobra's and a tongue which can extend like a frog's and is tipped with a proboscis.
Their torsos are slightly elongated, with pronounced chests and extra pectoral muscles do the the fact they have wings on their back. Coupled with their narrow but powerful core and wide hips, this gives Silentiun an hour-glass shape enviable to any woman. Their bat-like wings have three spurs and tough, scale-like, and almost translucent feathers on the outer face while fur lines the inner edge near the limbs. These wings have span of at least 13 ft and serve a double-purpose, aiding in locomotion and acting as a long pair of secondary arms which are able to reach the ground when standing upright. They fold these wings tightly to use their extra hands which have a thumb and three fingers where the talon of a bat would be.
A Silentiun's primary arms appear almost like a humans woman's, slender and graceful, but along the edge of their ulna is a blade much like a mantis' claws extending from their wrist to their elbow and their hands are tipped with retractable claws - however the shape of these hands are slightly strange since they have three fingers in between two thumbs. Hidden on the rib-cage under their primary arms and wings are wide gills.
Their long, powerful legs are somewhere between a horse and a bird, with shorter thighs and calves but extended feet giving them a reverse-knee appearance. These legs end in what, at first glance, appear to be hooves but are actually a Silentiun's third set of hands and are walked upon the knuckles like a gorilla forelimbs. These hands have the same configuration as their primary hands, with three fingers in between two thumbs, but their talons are more pronounced and not retractable.
Perhaps their most striking feature other than their wings, the tail of a Silentiun is their most obvious and deadly weapon. Usually twice as long as the Silentiun is tall and lined with interlocking blade-like osteoderms which act as scissors, these whip-like limbs end in a bulbous club with a spear-like retractable stinger.
Locomotion:
Silentiun are usually seen walking upright as a human, however by using their tails as balance they run with a far more forward lean than humans similar to raptors and while sprinting they travel on all fours. Their winged arms aren't for show either, allowing them to fly or swim with powerful momentum while their tails serve as balance and a rudder. Silentiun also climb and burrow using these long, powerful limbs allowing them to scale cliffs and excavate through the ground with ease.Biological Traits
Natural Weapons
Silentiun are armed to the teeth, so to speak, and have myriad natural weapons at their disposal. On the most basic level, this includes their claws, fangs, and talons as well as their deadly tails but they have several other advantages including venom and electrical organs.- Venom: Each of their natural weapons have a different venom, in lethal and non-lethal varieties:
- Their saliva mixes with the powerful neurotoxin from their fangs to create a kiss which dulls the mind and can chemically brainwash others with regular dosage, while their fangs themselves hold a more deadly variety.
- The proboscis in the tip of their tongues contain proteolytic venom which breaks down a victim on a molecular level to allow easier consumption with their proboscis.
- The claws on their primary hands are coated with the same concoction a platypus has, which while nonlethal causes immense pain and paralysis for a temporary period.
- The talons on their wings and feet are coated with fatal cytotoxin.
- Their stingers hold a deadly necrotoxin which outright kills the cells in the body.
- Their hair-like quills and the blades lining their tail are coated in powerful hemotoxin which makes victims just as likely to bleed out as die of the wound.
- As if all this wasn't enough Silentiun are also able to "spit" from their tails a super-heated mixture of hydroquinone, hydrogen peroxide, and hydrogen cyanide.
- Electric Organs: Nearly all the muscles of Silentiun also serve as electric producing organs, similar to the Electric Knife-fish (Electric Eel) but vastly more potent. Due to the nature of their muscles, coupled with their eldritch creation, these organs allow a Silentiun to not only produce electricity from their bodies but also store it from outside sources and even devour it as a form of energy. The infrasonic frequency, or "buzzing", these muscles produce is one of the sources for a Silentiun's echolocation and sonar abilities.
Natural Abilities
- Biological Immortality: Like some jellyfish Silentiun can regenerate cells and undergo trans-differentiation to replenish cells indefinitely. This grants them both eternal youth and infinite lifespan. They can regenerate from even the most grievous of injuries and will not die from old age, cancer, or any other natural ailments. This, however, does not prevent death from outside sources such as violent deaths and accidents.
- Enclosed Respiratory System: Silentiun sport an enclosed amphibious respiratory system, allowing them to extract oxygen from the air or water and recycling used air with a separate set of lungs which converts it back to pure oxygen. Despite the ability to internally breathe indefinitely without need for a second breath, it is more often used as a way to constantly intake oxygen for a more efficient respiratory system and even allows them to sing in Laulu without need for pausing.
- Webbing: Silentiun house spinnerets similar to a spider or silkworm in several locations throughout their bodies, namely the fingers of their six hands and within the bulbous club on their tail (on the opening of the entrance for their ovipositor and stinger). Also similar to these creatures the silk produced can come in various forms depending on the need of the substance at the time, from sticky entrapment to durable building material. Silentiun make use of this silk as the primary material in just about everything they create, but process it once outside their bodies through various forms of refinement and enchantments to create all manner of architecture, clothing, weapons, etc.
Defenses
- Camouflage: Silentiun can have nearly perfect camouflage, essentially rendering them invisible to all forms of detection. This is achieved through a combination of chromatophores to change their color, Papillae to change the shape and texture of their form, and interplay between antenna and electric organs to "blend in" to the natural world's electromagnetic signature, and Bioluminescence to alter the light their bodies do or do not reflect as well as generate their own when needed.
- Reinforced Bones: Despite their size, Silentiun weight very little. Much of this is due to the fact that they have hollow bones similar to birds, but these bones have a natural carbon-fiber reinforcement making them even more sturdy than human bones.
- Sub-dermal Armor: Just underneath their skin Silentiun have an exoskeleton of chitinous material reinforced with the same carbon-fiber as their bones. Unlike their endoskeleton which is hollow and provides the primary support structure for their bodies this exoskeleton functions more like natural armor to protect the Silentiun against both injury and temperature.
Natural Cultivators:
Even without education or training their natures manifest itself in a manner similar to cultivation, granting them the ability to absorb the energy from the world around them before that energy culminates in their Dāntiáns. As such they are already born being within the Qi Condensation stage of cultivation and are constantly cultivating without the need to actively meditate. This natural absorption lends itself well to the individual Silentiun's advancement in cultivation and grants an innate talent for magic by giving them the ability to accumulate the required energy easier and faster than many other races. This also means that their Natural Physiques and Spiritual Roots are not only naturally high quality, but automatically improve overtime alongside their cultivation base since they refine themselves naturally. However, as magical beings, they also survive on the same accumulated energy used to advance their cultivation and use it in the same manner as nutrients from mundane food so they constantly consume this energy even without using it actively. This means that unless they actively cultivate their progression is at best only faster and easier than others rather than guaranteed.
Genetics and Reproduction
Despite being able to asexually clone themselves, they consider it taboo to do so unless in dire straits and instead seek out incubators for their eggs from all manner of species. The process is extremely important to Silentiun, and they make sure to thoroughly screen any potential mates and especially target creatures with abilities the Silentiun do not already have so that they can absorb the ability as a race by incubating their eggs within the host (making them a xenomorphic species).
Growth Rate & Stages
Silentiun eggs gestate for three months both before and after being deposited in their host before they hatch fully formed but small and vulnerable... thankfully for the incubators, modern Silentiun hatchlings do not devour their hosts unlike most ovipositional species (including the "lesser" Silentiun of earlier generations).
Hatchlings feed upon their mother's milk and supplemental food for a period of six months while they grow and adjust before fledgling.
Fledglings begin to hunt and collect their own food and attending proper education and training throughout their juvenile period until reaching adulthood at nine years after hatching.
After reaching sexual maturity, Silentiun no longer age thanks to their biological immortality which essentially lets them regenerate from the death of cells which leads to death from old age.
Ecology and Habitats
Dietary Needs and Habits
Silentiun need over 6,000 calories a day to keep themselves in good condition while their magical natures also require constant replenishment of energy even without demanding activities or magic use, as such if they lack too much of either they will enter the same cocooned death-like hibernation as to survive otherwise unlivable conditions despite not dying due to lack of nourishment. Thankfully to counteract this glaring weakness of theirs they're well adapted to eat just about everything be it meat, plants, bodily fluids, nectar, and even minerals (especially gems) and have a digestive track so efficient even a reticulated python would be jealous, absorbing nearly 98% of all nutritional value out of anything they eat and have stomach acid so powerful that they can easily digest just about anything they consume. They constantly absorb and convert energy in a manner similar to photosynthesis which, while it doesn't negate the need to constantly eat or cultivate, allows them to enter a state of equilibrium when doing little to no activity.
Most of the time, however, they have duties within Na'Daoine to attend to such as their education and training as well as any missions they're given by the clan. Due to this, Silentiun are almost constantly eating foods rich in not only nutrients but energy and love to devour things such as magical beasts, immortal grasses, and gems which are known for storing energy. Silentiun aren't mindless beasts though, and prepare well in advance when possible by hunting daily and preserving their food and building up a stockpile to eat whenever needed. In fact, due to their insatiable appetites the Silentiun are renowned for their culinary skills to anyone that has ever been lucky enough to have a taste - which is rare since Silentiun will only share their food with those they greatly trust.

Social Structure
Na'Daoine:
One cannot speak about Silentiun without also speaking about Na'Daoine, the clan which every member belongs to... in fact the two are almost synonymous.Caste System:
Silentiun naturally form a strict caste system within their ranks, and this is reflected within Na'Daoine. At the very top sits The Progenitor, Maitre Na'Daoine and directly below her the Comhairle Dusan: The Council of Twelve which are her advisers and the representatives of the castes below. These castes are the Ríchíosa or royalty who act as the Elders of the Clan, Uaisle or nobility who act as instructors, Saoránach or the average citizenry who are the disciples, and the Fónamh who are in Na'Daoine's Outer Sect.Unlike normal caste systems these ranks are not static throughout one's life and both upward and downward mobility is possible depending on the independent actions of the Silentiun in question. Silentiun also divide into their personal Bands, a group of four to five Na'Daoine which live, work, and fight together - Silentiun are almost never seen alone outside of their own territory.
Militarized Structure:
Despite their overall peaceable natures Na'Daoine are organized in a way very similar to a military with every Silentiun belonging to a:"Band" = Equivalent to a squad of 4-5 Silentiun
"Ensemble" = Equivalent to a platoon of 4-5 "Bands"
"Troupe" = Equivalent to a company of 4-5 "Ensembles"
1 Nest per County = Battalion of 4-5 "Troupes" (Each Nest is the Silentiun equivalent of a city with a population of up to 4,000 Silentiun with over 600 Adult Silentiun and their hatchlings and juveniles in training.)
1 Hive per Country - Regiment of 4-5 "Nests"
1 Horde per Continent - Equivalent of a Brigade
1 Colony per Planet - Equivalent of a Military Division
1 Swarm per Solar System - Equivalent of a Military Corps
1 Scourge per Galaxy - Equivalent of a Branch Though they have not expanded so far yet, in the future each of the following categories will need their own classification as well: The whole of a Realm (Universe), in the the 3 Realms, and in the entire Multiverse.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Average Intelligence
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Vision:
- The phoenix shaped eyes of a Silentiun are powerful, even if their crossed shaped (+) pupils can be unnerving to look into. With the reflective backing of tapetum lucidum and large pupils similar to an owl's matched with magnifying lenses similar to an eagle's their piercing gaze never falters, regardless of ambient light or distance and their eyes are far more densely populated by rods and cones allowing them to see the world far more vividly than humans.
- Though colloquially called the "All Seeing Eye" the third eye of a Silentiun seems to take this turn of phrase seriously. Despite appearing to be a gem upon their brow, this crystalline coating hides a trinocular compound eye similar to a Mantis Shrimp's. The photo-receptors arranged in bands grant them the ability to see across the entire spectrum of light, and even polarized rays granting them the same functions of a CAT scan just like the shrimp. Unlike the Mantis Shrimp the Silentiun actually have a brain powerful enough to process this sensory information despite the fact their eyes are even more powerful.
Hearing:
The ears of a Silentiun are satellite in nature and far more keen than a human's allowing them to pick up sounds from infra-sound to ultrasound and even use echolocation like a bat, though instead of using the clicking method of bats they instead use the reverberation caused by the humming of their own electrically charged bodies as the source giving them a constant feedback.Scent and Taste:
Though the sense of taste is arguably the weakest sense of Silentiun, it is often combined with their powerful sense of smell equal to that of wolves, a Jacobson's organ like a snake, and the chemo-reception of their antenna.Antennae:
The antenna of Silentiun, as with any other species with them, serve multiple purposes, foremost being chemo-reception. These include the ability to feel air motion and pressure, vibration, heat, touch, taste, and smell as well as serving as orientation for navigation. Silentiun antenna are especially powerful in the chemo-reception category, allowing them to sense the presence of harmful substances such as toxins, but aren't weak in the other functions by any means and serve a vital role in just about every sense the Silentiun has except sight.Touch:
Though a majority of their tactile sensations come from their antenna, the quills on their body and their skin also play a role when it comes to the sensation of touch. Their electroreceptors especially stand out since they allow them to sense other living creatures, magnetic fields, and even serve a function in their echolocation - especially underwater where their normal echolocation is less effective than their sonar.Extrasensory:
As magical beings that require energy to survive, Silentiun have adapted to be able to sense energy around them. Though the combination of their third eye, antenna, and electroreceptors combine in a way that an "aura" of energy is present around any mundane source of energy similar to how detect magic shows arcane energy and how spiritual energy is detected by the Spiritual or Divine Sense of cultivators - albeit with a far more limited range compared to the possible several kilometres range of a cultivator's will. The Network:
Thanks their advanced technology called The Network Silentiun are connected to other true Silentiun in a manner similar, but not quite a hive mind. Essentially The Network is a neural link to an infranet storing the collective knowledge of the species and can enable them to communicate with each other over vast distances (or anything else possible with the internet). Although a Silentiun is not able to "see through" another Silentiun's eyes, the information - including the ability to see a "recording" of those senses as their own allows the race to share information across vast distances in a telepathic manner and keep watch over much larger pieces of territory.Minor Hivemind:
Though The Network is more like a wireless infranet rather than an actual hivemind the Silentiun are in fact partially hive minded, but not with other true Silentiun but rather their Brood of previous generations of Project Android. This hivemind allows them to truly see through their Brood's eyes and directly take control of their bodies when needed, knowing anything one of their children learns the moment they learn it with orders in real-time.Eidolon Projection:
All Silentiun have a split consciousness with their Eidolon Projection, essentially two souls in the same body of one mind. On the surface the Eidolon are similar to Astral Projections but with form or Avatars with equivalent strength to the true body, but these spirit bodies can alter their forms to suit the situation at hand or the desires of the individual in question. Psionic and spiritual powers and senses like telekinesis or spiritual sense are amplified if channeled through the Eidolon Projection.Symbiotech:
The senses of the symbiotic technology isn't the Silentiun's senses but nonetheless connect to The Network as a heads-up display for the Silentiun in question, using it's magitek sensors to augment the Silentiun's and serve as a failsafe.Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Brood:
Every Silentiun is essentially a one-man army in addition to being a biological weapon themselves. The more powerful the Silentiun the larger "Brood" they can control at one time with the average adult Silentiun being able to control any combination of the following:1 Symbiotech and...
1 Eidolon Projection and...
3 large generation six "Warbeast" (each worth 2 "Guards") or...
6 ape-sized generation five "Guard" (each worth 2 "Hunters") or...
12 dog-sized generation four "Hunter" (each worth 2 "Scouts") or...
24 cat-sized generation three "Scouts" (each worth 2 "Workers") or...
48 hand-sized generation two "Worker" (each worth 2 "Drones") or...
96 insect-like first generation "Drone".
The combination within a Silentiun Brood depends on the individual, the circumstances, and how powerful the individual is. Your average adult Silentiun can therefor control up to a maximum of one Warbeast warbeast, two Guards, four Hunters, eight Scouts, sixteen Workers, and thirtytwo Drones in addition to their Symbiotech and Eidolon Projection for a total of sixty five in their brood. Only the most powerful of Silentiun such as Maître Na'Daoine can control all 191 member at once.
Unlike modern Silentiun, however, previous generations actually devour the host their eggs are implanted in after completing the genetic transfer so they don't use the Outer Sect as incubators. Thankfully for the potential enemies, gestators aren't actually needed and only speed up the growth of a Silentiun, no matter the generation.

Anyone not likely to attack a Yāo on sight then they'll generally come to get along with the Silentiun due to their friendly personalities, sheer charisma, and enchanting natures... to say nothing of the melodic Laulu and their enthralling kisses.
