The city was founded in 5119 BPC by a group of mages from central
Myruthea who wished to live outside the limits set by
the Twelve Wise Ones and chose to migrate west, where they joined with local communities of fisherfolk and farmers to build a new settlement at the mouth of the river Phelor. Here, the mage Jebbin, carved the famous town foundation stone on a rocky knoll overlooking Jebbin Bay, imbuing it with runes that shine with an orange glow by day and night.
On 18th Glim 4894 BPC, Jebbin City became the leader of a mercantile and defensive alliance called
the Jebbin League which controlled trade over south and west
Myruthea for most of the following four hundred years.
The Jebbin League was conquered by the
Old Pale Empire on 19th Tivith, 4514 BPC when the city fell after the battle of Jebbin Bay.

The Battle of Jebbin Bay by DMFW with Midjourney
During the long era of the
Old Pale Empire, the city was never considered more than a regionally significant province and always subordinate to the capitals, first at
Zalgurim and later at
Honirham.
After the
Planar Conformation, however, Jebbin City became more globally important again as a nucleus for the restoration of civilisation in
Myruthea during the late period of the age of the Fire Kingdoms and in the age of the Water Kingdoms. It later lost out, however, to newer and better positioned cities in the early power games of the
Four Aerial Courts and it was not until modern times that it gained a measure of influence over world affairs which is arguably as great as it has ever wielded in its entire history, as the capital of the
Trans-Oceanic Empire.
