The Golden Society

The Golden Society is an organization built and ran by the richest and most powerful merchants of the Requian Coast. Started in 72 A.G. with three members, it has since then grown to ten members all of which are anonymous to the public and to each other using costumes and codenames. These members meet at a weekly council held in different mansions within the Empire's District of Seaview where they make major decisions concerning the economy of the Coast, whether it be which companies to eliminate, to recruit, how to deal with hindrances to trade routes (such as Eldritch Storms), the list goes on.   This of course is only referring to the highest ranking members of the Society. There are many lower-ranking members who work hard to climb the ranks and keep their patron high-ranking member's identity concealed.

Goals

The members of the Golden Society yern for total control over the Requian Coast's economy and in relation, the economy of the entire continent of Great Eethill. They want to accomplish this by forcing businesses to join their ranks and eliminating those who refuse.

Ranks and Renown

Unlike most factions, renown is not gained through quests and missions given by higher-ups. Renown is instead a reflection of the members' wealth, fame, and economic decision-making.

Pyrites (1 Renown)

The ranks start with Pyrites, small business owners or aspiring intrapreneurs who have been recruited by a higher ranking member of the society. These higher-ranking members tend to recruit as many businesses as possible to help them climb the ranks faster and have allies already under their belt when achieving the Golden Noble ranking. There are no special benefits within this rank, other than the title of Pyrite and the official recognition as a member of the Golden Society.

Shinning Citizen (3 Renown)

As you enter the second-ranking, you gain more trust from the Golden Society. Now you can request assistance when you're business is threatened or just needs a little shove in the right direction. You will also now have access to the Society's Favor system which will allow other businesses and companies to provide their services to you at no cost, instead, they are given more assistance by the Society and other members.

Glimmering Officer (10 Renown)

You may now recruit new businesses into the Society and have access to the Society's resources in the Seaview Thieves Guild to sabotage competitors or to protect your or your recruits' businesses.

Golden Noble (25 Renown)

You are now allowed to be a part of the council so choose your disguise and codename if you haven't already. You are allowed to use any resource the Society has at its disposal (if the rest of the council agrees) and will make the major decisions alongside your other council members.

Golden King/Queen (50 Renown)

Only one person may be in this position at a time. Only the most powerful merchant can be the Golden King/Queen. They make the ultimate decisions in the council, having multiple votes, and can veto any idea presented to them.

Partners

These two groups have made a deal to work with each other for several reasons. The major of which is that the Golden Society has money, and the Thieves Guild has forces that can... remove competitors...

Friendly

The Golden Society has complete control of the economy of Seaview, which is within the "Empire's" territory. King Leigh II accepts their control over it to keep his position as King.

Passive

The Golden Society and Sea's Appeal are loose business partners. The Society also finds the religious group as a prime business opportunity when it comes to their rapid expansion of power over the coast.
