Blind Old Man Norbert
of The Watch . When you speak to him, he speaks in labored breaths of constellations that hadn’t been seen since he was a young lad. The last time the Goddess Stars had risen together in the sky, it was more than fifty winters past, he said. Under the light of that strange set of stars, a portal had briefly opened by the old tomb entrance. He’d remembered following behind the old Captain of the Watch Karz Torchlight and seeing jewels in there, fine steel spears, and enameled armor, but most importantly the legendary KnightLamp . He’d run when the ironmen had attacked. Now, old and blind, he wishes he’d taken the chance on a life of adventure. The Goddess Stars are once more converging in the northern sky, and someone with courage could take the chance Old Man Norbert hadn’t. see: Tomb of the LampknightHistory
The Watch was established by the Lampknight from members of his retinue who showed their bravery during the evacuation to Eastlight during the calamity. Many of its founding members served as the rear guard during the retreat and would venture back into the forest afterward to find those who were lost.
Rumor:
Recently the Watch has fallen on hard times as the once peaceful forest paths have become quite treacherous, and the deeper parts of the forest and nigh unnavigable. Two Watchmen have even gone missing just a few days prior as they went to investigate the old forest temple. They say the area around the temple has become shrouded in a thick and unnatural fog that suffocates torchlight and even magic. Members of the watch believe an artifact of their order the Knight Lamp may help but it is buried in a tomb.
