EastLight

As you exit the Lamplight Forest and step into the warm twilight and you notice maybe 500 meters from the treeline is the quiet village of Eastlight. Closer to town you notice an odd collection of tents near the palisade walls, likely from traveling merchants unable to get a spot at the Inn and the faint smell of smoke is being carried on the wind. The lone gate guard stands watch, leaning on her pike. A lyre can be heard playing a lament in a minor key, and it seems that the entire village just heaved a despairing sigh and called it a day. The small tavern is hushed with serious drinking, the run-down temple almost indistinguishable from its mausoleum in the kirkyard. Meetings in the street are acknowledged with nods, if at all, and not a merchant in the market seems to care whether a customer shows. A crow calls. A dog barks in the distance. Moving further into town you notice almost the entire eastern portion of the village, many houses and other structures have been ravaged by fire very recently. Peasants move about through the skeletal houses clearing rubble and gathering damaged possessions.
