William Dearborn
Ranger-Major William Dearborn
William Dearborn is the senior Gatewarden representative on the Olympian Council. He is stern, steady, and unrelenting. Though he can be impatient and brusque to the point of outright rudeness, his fierce dedication to Gatewatch and the safety of Olympia cannot be contested. He is a shaman of no small power or renown, and he and his trio of partners were local legend long before they were given council seats.
The Dearborn family traces its bloodline all the way back to the Founding. They claim descent from General Queens of The Bold and Brave tribe. Though the family has shed most of the trappings associated with the original tribe, William has been known to mark his property with six white stripes - an archaic variant of the Braves’ symbol, long unused even by the time of the Founding. The Dearborns have been part of Gatewatch since its establishment. Will’s illustrious career began with a now-infamous forgery to get into Oracle Academy well below the normal entry age, and is now studded with high-profile victories against Raiders and Horrors alike.
Despite being the last living full-blood Dearborn, William has never married. He has, however, adopted one son, to whom he intends to pass on the family legacy.
Physical Description
William has black hair going salt-and-pepper with age and pale blue eyes. He is 6’3 and dresses simply, for a representative of an entire community making decisions on behalf of an entire city. He sometimes makes a point of coming straight off patrols and into council meetings, using his street-dirty clothes as a silent reminder of the work necessary to keep Olympia safe.
