The Post Office

This location is owned by V, Roo Sakala, and Keira Quinn. Please make sure to involve their players in any plots or changes involving this location.

The Post Office is in the nicer, above ground part of Moros -- the neighborhood in Hades even oracles avoid. Unlike the many shanties, shacks, and tents that make up the area, the bar with an apartment above it is a brick and mortar building with both electricity and running water that are mostly reliable. The building hasn't been a post office for over a hundred years, but the name stuck. On the outside it is non descript and a little run down, but obviously loved and cared for.
The inside, however, is shockingly purple -- every item an ode to its many shades from lavender to nearly indigo. There are a handful of tables surrounded by chairs and barstools -- almost nothing is a set. The owners got the furniture and most everything else from nearby Borrow Town. But everything has been lovingly repaired and painted a shade of violet.
A dartboard and jukebox line the walls and a couple of orcs play pool in a corner. There are inexpensive and decent drinks, simple inexpensive meals (vegetarian if Roo is cooking) and staff may be known to “forget” to charge customers for food who are down on their luck and really need a good meal every now and again.
The real magic of The Post Office is in the austere medical clinic/apothecary hidden behind a door marked “Employees Only.” It is a place that residents of Moros, Borrowtown, and beyond know they can come to if they need medical care or magical healing and are too far from the nearest hospital or do not want to be treated at the nearest hospital for reasons (injured doing crime, strung out of hynos, general distrust of government, take your pick). Patients pay what they can - sometimes a little money, sometimes glass jars and vials found and cleaned in Borrowtown to be used for potions, sometimes homemade cookies, and sometimes nothing at all.
The small apartment above houses V, Roo, and their newest addition, Keira

Purpose / Function

Bar/pub with drinks, food, a jukebox, darks, and pool table. It’s a place for people in Moros to gather, socialize, and get a decent meal on the cheap – very helpful when many lack kitchens. Also, “secretly” (it’s not really a secret, there’s just no markings identifying it) a clinic/apothecary that provides free or low cost healthcare and magical healing to the community.

Alterations

The Post Office was, in fact, a post office when it was first built. It is now a bar and clinic with an apartment above that houses V, Roo, and Keira.

Architecture

The Post Office is a brick building and looks like any other nondescript run down former government building in Moros, but the bar inside is a riot of purple, and it houses a clinic/apothecary in the back.

Defenses

Bars on windows and multiple deadbolts on the doors.

History

The Post Office was once a post office in the early days of Olympia. About 100 years ago the building was abandoned when the post office moved to a safer part of Hades. It was bought and used a group of nasty loan sharks who preyed on the poor in Moros and nearby Borrowtown. The were *ahem* mysteriously run out of town. Onni Sakala (adoptive partent of V and Roo) and their crew of do-gooders bought the place and turned it into a bar with apartments in the backrooms and above for the crew members. Sadly life in Moros can be difficult and dangerous and Onni and their crew have since died. V and Roo inherited the Post Office and converted the backrooms into a clinic/apothecary to serve the community.

Tourism

V, Roo, and Keira would be utterly perplexed should tourists ever visit. People usually come to Moros for one of three reasons – they are very poor, they need to disappear, or they are in one of the handful of cults (particularly hypnos-based) who don’t play well with society and try to make their societies in the underground parts of the neighborhood.
