Free Captain Heroditus of the Totenkreuz
The first captain of the Totenkreuz was a good man with a dark past. He led his angelic ship in what was, it seems, a redemptive crusade, but he was betrayed by his evil second officer and her seduced partner, his first officer. He was trapped by imprisonment within the Crypt of the Sacred Hollow, in the Vale of Hermonides in Conaria. His traitorous first officer, Rrackdar Llence, took over in his stead, but was killed some time after when the ship was struck by a curse inflicted by the Zerakaz Empire. The second officer and possible nephilim, Nefea, was trapped in one of the ship's four emergency evacuation demiplanes along with most of the crew, and the ship was left adrift.
Malakai's Ragnarok and its crew of adventurers were caught by the Totenkreuz's tractor beam some five years later, and they boarded the ship to investigate. They were able to lift the curse and decipher the myriad political plots that had plagued the ship. To prevent the Totenkreuz's magically enforced captaincy automatically defaulting to the nefarious Nefea if she were to be released, the party opted to try to find Captain Heroditus and free him from his imprisonment.
